At our Sanford, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Took my daughter for a kids’ meal and got her a lemonade. She drank most of it without issue, but when we got to the car and looked in the bottom of the cup, there was a small, dark foreign object sitting in the remaining lemonade. It’s black, solid, irregular-shaped, and very clearly not a lemon seed, pulp, ice, or anything that’s supposed to be in a drink (photos attached, it’s obvious).
This wasn’t something that fell in after we left the counter; the lid was already on when they handed it to us. That means whatever this object came from inside the restaurant, whether it was in the cup, the ice, the syrup line, or the drink machine itself.
I’m sick to my stomach thinking my little girl was drinking from this the whole time. We kept the cup exactly as it was with the object still inside. Serving something like this, especially in a child’s drink, is beyond gross; it’s a serious health and sanitation issue.
Captain D’s, this is not okay.
After waiting 4-5 minutes in the drive through with no response I finally spoke to someone, it seemed as if they meant to mess with me about the order.
I had to ask for the same 2 meals about 5 times and the gentleman in the drive through today was asking me irrelevant questions to my order. He repeatedly asked me the same questions I had obviously already answered as if it was funny to them.
The lady behind me in the drive thru overheard it and she left in disgust as if she didn’t car to deal with these people. I was so hungry all I asked for was 2 meals it didn’t seem that hard, so I went to the window to continue ordering after this.
A black female with awful dental problems, wearing a white sweater, was terribly rude. Initially upon seeing me standing there she totally ignored me waiting to enter and let in someone else on the opposite side of the store. (see store video camera)
I walked back to my car and went through the drive through. My food was cold and not what I ordered.
Other Franchises outside of Sanford do not tolerate this behavior. Since I do not want to drive to Orlando just to enjoy Captain D’s I will take my business to another Sanford, Florida proprietor not steeped in a dismissive culture.
