Chef Lupe Liang & his wife Judy opened Hop Woo in 1993 with 8 tables. Lupe cooked and ran the kitchen while Judy managed and served the customers. Since then, Hop Woo has continued to grow and expand due to the amount of growing customers. First, expansion of the building, and finally to its current location, across the lot from the original Hop Woo. We are very much still a family owned and operated business. Judy and Lupe are extremely involved and hope to continue running their piece of the “American dream” until they retire. It’s an honor and privilege to be a part of the Chinatown and Los Angeles community for 26+ years.
Casual setting for traditional Chinese cuisine such as Peking duck, with lunch deals & late hours.

Reviews
Been going to this restaurant for about 15years. Customer service sometimes gets slow but food is really good.
We usually dine in but got take away last night.
Need to see more chicken in the Kung Pao versus veggies. Real Chinese decor throughout restaurant Service was basic, not too attentive but will be over to our table in seconds when called on.
First off the prices are more expensive on Uber eats as compared to just dining in so that played a part in my review. Overall I thought the flavor and quality was good. As compared to other Chinese restaurants I’ve tried it was about average which was not bad.
We ordered chicken corn soup, basked fish, walnut shrimp, vegetable egg rolls, Mongolian beef, stir fry vegetables, fried rice, orange peel chicken, house special chow mein crispy noodle, and fried tofu with white rice on the side.
It was for my family of seven and they were all satisfied and it fed us all. I think the fried tofu was my favorite and the walnut shrimp. The flavors were good and the quality was descent. Overall it was a good dinner to treat my loved ones to.
I’d definitely order from this place again or try in dining for a better idea of how their food is. Next time I’ll try their other menu items in person.
First, I asked for some hot water. I repeatedly told the server about it, but after waiting for an entire hour, it still never arrived. I also ordered a Mongolian beef dish, which also did not come out even after more than an hour. Other tables that arrived after us were already served, but our food never came.
Every time I raised my hand to get the server’s attention, he would just say “coming right up” or “one moment,” but when he walked past our table, he never stopped to actually help us. Eventually, I couldn’t wait any longer and went to the front desk to pay. That’s when I found out the dish had never even been placed into the system — and it seemed like he already knew that, which was very surprising to me.
This restaurant is extremely disrespectful to customers and truly disappointing. I would not recommend it.
Five stars again.
