Pizza King’s evolution began in 1965 when Dan and Pete Poulos started the 212 Club, where the Midlands Mall is now located in Council Bluffs, Iowa. When the developers cleared the land for the Midlands Mall, the 212 Club closed and the Poulos brothers set their sights on a new location. They purchased St. Patrick’s school at 1101 N. Broadway and converted it into a full service restaurant called Pizza King. Throughout the years, Pizza King’s menu has grown into a local favorite for outstanding pizza, prime rib, steaks and seafood and has won many accolades for their food and service. This is my second time here and this review is for this second time. First time was fantastic and delicious, we sat in the bar that time. But this time wasn’t so great. My filet came out rare so I sent it back and asked her to just cook it a tad bit more so it’s between medium and medium well. It came out 15 minutes later well done and dry. She forgot my baked potato when she brought my plate and I had to wait awhile for that. The green beans were good! Their bread they bring to the table is good as well other than the cold butter pads. My loaded baked potato had raw bacon on it, and I had to use those cold butter pads for it. I also had to ask for sour cream. Our waitress took quite awhile to refresh our drinks. They were busy though, it was a Friday night. We asked for a nice quiet booth and they put us in the corner booth near the kitchen and we heard LOUD banging of dishes right behind us.

What’s in a name? I wouldn’t have thought a place named Pizza King would be an up-scale restaurant. But it truly is!
Celebrating our anniversary, my wife and I enjoyed a great meal there. Great food, excellent service, and a nice atmosphere made for a wonderful experience. The only problem was navigating our way into the parking lot — the entrance near a busy intersection is a bit difficult to determine even using Google Maps. Just a minor hurdle though.
My wife chose the Steak and Shrimp with sides of Mostaccioli (pasta w/ marinara sauce) and Vegetables. The steak was tender and juicy–very good! The other items were also good. Her meal came with a nice dinner salad with dressing served on the side.
Since I wanted to see why they have their name, my choice was the Hawaiian Special Pizza (so many pizza options to choose from). It was delicious! I ordered a large size so that we could take half home to enjoy the next day. [The photo shows the half that was left; I neglected to take the shot until we had finished eating.]

recently had dinner at Pizza King, and it was outstanding. It’s a classic Italian steakhouse with roots going back to the 1960s — from the era when pizza was considered gourmet and a great steak was a point of pride. The atmosphere has that timeless, upscale feel without being pretentious.
The steak was excellent — tender and juicy, exactly what you hope for. My wife ordered the sirloin, and it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My niece had a pizza that tasted fresh and clearly made in-house, with a unique touch that set it apart. I ordered the steak tips over rice, and they were flavorful and cooked just right.
Service was just as impressive as the food. Our drinks were always refilled, plates were cleared promptly, and we never had to track down our server for anything. The staff was attentive without hovering.
Great food, great service, fair pricing, and a warm atmosphere. If 10 stars were an option, I’d give them.

Well, here I was expecting to walk into a pizza joint, but to my surprise this is actually a very classy place. Sometimes you may need a reservations. I have heard very good things about the daycare, but since it’s called pizza King, I had to order the pizza and I’m gonna tell you I don’t think you could go wrong with anything that you ordered here. The staff have worked for for years. This is just absolutely a very cool place to be. I recommend.

Went to PK for Valentines dinner. Got in without a reservation no problem. My wife both enjoyed the prime rib. Limited menu on Valentines, but hey no problem. The salad was very fresh. It came also with a gigantic baked potato and fresh green beans. The prime rib was a generous serving for $40. The Au Jus was more of a demi glaze, thicker than a regular Au Jus but it lent itself to hold better to the beef and was seasoned spectacularly highlighting beefy and onion flavors. The creamy horseradish sauce was very unique. Now let me brag on the service. Everyone had a smile and was super kind. Denise was our server and cemented the fact that we will be back often. She exceeded all expectations of a waitress. The meal was well paced. We didn’t feel rushed or forgotten. After being absolutely stuffed and taking almost half our food home, she brought out a piece of cheesecake to share. That tasted amazing too. Pizza King has the best restaurant prime rib. That is a quote from my wife and I would have to 100% agree with her. Thanks for an amazing Valentines day Pizza King and Denise!

Ive been coming here for a while now. My family and I love Pizza King. The owners are so nice and they seem to treat thier staff well because you see the same faces visit after visit. The price is great because you receive alot for your money. Id rather go here then some chain steak resturant that more then likely charges more for less. This is our go to place for anniversary or birthdays. Sometimes just because.

Spaghetti and meatballs 5 stars
I’m usually not a fan of marinara sauce, but this one appealed to me as it’s slightly sweet. The meatballs were done well enough 4.25 stars. it’s a spaghetti I would order again.
It comes with salad and bread on the side, but the bread was just regular sliced bread. Neither of those items really stood out for me.
The ravioli we had as a appetizer was a 4 stars. I like the fact that it came out super hot and fresh.
There was ample parking in the parking lot.
