Definitely the best sandwich I’ve ever had! My husband & I both built our own sandwiches. We each got turkey sandwiches. All of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The people working there were very friendly. It’s a casual place and kid-friendly. They have an outdoor patio with seating. I wish we lived close to SLO. We’d come here often.

High Street Deli is a must-stop in SLO. My wife and I shared the Dutch Punch (great!) and The Hot Godmother (mind-blowing). The Godmother might actually be the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten—the mix of pesto, cranberry, and Calabrian chili mayo on warm turkey is perfection.

Heads up: The wait can be long (ours was an hour), but the staff is honest about the wait times upfront. It is absolutely worth the time, but bring a snack for the wait!

I can see why everyone raves about this shop. It lives up to its hype!

It can get pretty busy, and you may do with a little wait but don’t fret, it’s so worth it.

I love how you get to customize your own sandwich. You get what you love. It’s all made with high quality ingredients you can taste and see. They offer great drinks/and sides as well to pair.

If I lived closer, I would be here once a week, no doubt.

I have been to HSD before but its been at least a year. I was caught off guard by the 1 hour wait but decided to wait anyways. While I waited I ate their potato salad which was actually pretty tasty and they have a great chip selection. My sandwhich ended up being decent. It wasnt the best sandwhich ive ever had but the quality was defintly there and it was pretty falvorfull. The amount of tourists and watching the tourists ick me though I think I would only go here on certain occasions

Best sandwich place in SLO county. No matter how much I try to replicate their flavors at home, theirs is second to none. I guess their dressings and “works” are magically special. Order in advance, always

I come to SLO twice a month and I eat here for lunch at least once a month. Food is fresh and delicious. I would suggest placing an order the day before if you’re traveling into town as it can get pretty busy.

This place is an institution for a reason!! Unbeatable sandwiches! Super fresh & delicious, always stacked tall. And don’t sleep on the macaroni salad! I’m not usually a fan of the mac, but it is killer here!

One of the best sandwich shops I’ve ever been to. You can order the sandwich just the way you like or have it made as it on the menu. I had a hot pastrami and it did not disappoint.
The location is in a residential area, and it made parking difficult, even for San Luis standards. It was extremely busy and crowded, it’s a small shop, so it was hard to move around inside. And for some reason, there was a large amount of flies outside, making it hard to eat comfortably.
Price was a little high but we’ll worth it. Service was very good and friendly, especially when you consider how crowded it is. I will be going back to try out more sandwiches.

High St Market and Deli is a delightful gem that excels in providing an exceptional sandwich experience. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked bread and quality ingredients welcomes you, setting the stage for a satisfying meal. The deli’s ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a quick lunch or a leisurely bite.

The sandwich selection is impressive, showcasing a diverse range of flavors that cater to all palates. One standout option is the classic Reuben, featuring tender slices of corned beef piled high with tangy sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, and a generous spread of creamy Russian dressing on perfectly toasted rye. Each bite is a harmonious blend of flavors that leaves you craving more.

For those looking for something lighter, the turkey avocado sandwich is a must-try. Loaded with fresh, lean turkey, creamy avocado, crisp lettuce, and ripe tomatoes, it offers a refreshing contrast that doesn’t skimp on taste. The house-made spreads add an extra layer of flavor that elevates even the simplest combinations.

Service at High St Market and Deli is friendly and efficient, with staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to make recommendations based on your preferences. Whether you’re grabbing lunch on-the-go or enjoying a meal at one of their cozy tables, you’ll leave satisfied and ready to return.

Overall, High St Market and Deli is not just a place to grab a sandwich; it’s an experience that celebrates quality ingredients and great service. Highly recommended!
