Now don’t take this the wrong way because I have nothing bad to say about food and beer at this location at all!
But with that being said, I come to this location for two reasons!
#1. The coleslaw! I don’t know what it is about it but I freaking love it!
#2. Gabby!!! She has gotten my order perfect, absolutely perfect every single time I’ve ordered through her, plus you can have an intelligent conversation with her because she has knowledge and experience from years in the service industry!
So if you stop into the food and beer gulfgate location at night, look for the beautiful blonde server and you understand what I’m talking about. She knows the menu and consistently will get your order perfect as long as it’s within the menu options.
Now if you have the same amazing experience every time you walk in there like I have, please add a review and mention how she made your experience so amazing why you’ll be back!!!

A classic Florida sports bar offering a solid selection of bar/pub food, tasty lunch specials, and fair prices compared to nearby bars, pubs, and beachside restaurants. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area. Service is slow, but for what it’s worth, in Canada, you’d likely pay double the price for half the size and flavour.

We stopped in on Monday for their cheeseburger and fries special for $6.99 and it was excellent. The burger was done right, fries were solid, and you really can’t beat that price. My wife and daughter both had poke bowls, which were fresh and a good portion, and my other daughter had the homemade chicken nuggets and loved them.
The place was very clean, the staff was friendly, and it’s obvious this is a popular lunch spot. We got there just in time before it really filled up. Definitely a spot we’ll be going back to the next time we’re in Sarasota.

I don’t leave reviews often. I got food poisoning for the first time in my life a few hours after eating a burrito bowl here on Friday night. I’m sure the drinks are good but I would recommend avoiding the food (at least the burrito bowl).

Ya’ll …are we allowed to talk about places that gross us out . Food & Beer in Gulf Gate needs a health inspection. You can see the kitchen from the bar area. Just sit at the bar and watch. Looks like their last health inspection was in December and they got a generous B score but let me tell you they haven’t made any changes from their violations and I think added to it because we were so grossed out. Microwaving rice in plastic baggies, not cleaning the cutting boards properly, using the same dirty cloth to clean the cutting board areas. Using the same knife to cut different kinds of food with, using a dirty washcloth to clean the knife with that they use over and over again. Yes the same cloth that was used to clean the counter in the kitchen. Their condiments look spoiled in the “cold tray” their warm trays are a mess. Touching all different things without changing gloves. What a disaster.

We came down to Sarasota this Wednesday to attend a wedding and visit family this weekend. After driving for 10 hours from Tennessee, we were stoked to find this place was open late and the food is fantastic!
We were greeted immediately by Anna D, and she was a delight from the moment we walked in. As we were sitting she offered to bring us water and come back to get our drink order. She made excellent recommendations regarding the menu and checked up on us throughout our meal. I’m thrilled we had a server that was thoughtful and had excellent advice regarding the menu.
We had some lovely cocktails to begin with, so after our long drive that was very nice. We started our meal off with fried goat cheese, which were absolutely delicious. The dry rubbed wings were a hit as well. For our entrees we had the salad with chicken and jalapeño ranch dressing; and a down the hatch burger that was beyond delicious. What a surprising meal for the time of night and again, the service was fabulous!

Casual and fun place with a great vibe and atmosphere.Manager greeted us warmly when we arrived. Was busy but easy to get seated
Has some neat appetizers but we just got a cubano sandwich- which was delicious and spicy fries- that were the best we have ever had. Truly were amazing.

So yeah, I’m here late and an hour before they close! Austin (chef) came out if the kitchen and I casually asked.. ” what would you order, what is your go to and please just make it.” I can’t tell you how on point this guy was, this burger (the You Jel” and fries is amazing. The perfect balance between spicy and savory. Skin on fries and a bartender that understood the assignment! Tequila neat and a smile after Ive also been dealing with people all day long. Thank you Chef Austin and Lindsey in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger…. “I’ll be back”!!!
