No dinner hours.
We hired Uncle Nick’s as our Wedding caterer. We met with Sam (the owner) multiple times before booking. He shared that he and his wife were recently married, that they understood how stressful and expensive weddings are, and that their goal was to provide catering that alleviated stress — not added to it. We believed him. Communication leading up to the wedding felt reassuring, and we trusted what we were being told.
Unfortunately, what occurred on our wedding day did not reflect those promises.
During dinner service, the buffet was packed up before all of our guests were served. In conversations with close friends afterward, we learned that some guests never even got to eat because by the time their table was released, the catering team was already packing up to leave. Additionally, we had overpaid for food, as we had guests not able to make it day of. Sam assured us he would leave us the extra trays of left overs and make a plate for us (the couple) to have post wedding. We got neither.
The espresso bar we paid for was never set up as a bar. Instead, espresso was placed directly on our wooden cigar stand without permission, permanently staining and ruining it.
The cannolis were repeatedly promised to be passed by a “cannoli man.” That detail was honestly a major reason we booked with Uncle Nick’s. It never happened. Instead, the cannolis were placed on a table in a separate back room. Several guests later asked us if we even had dessert because they never saw them.
We were explicitly told serving dishes would be provided for cocktail hour and dessert. We even offered to supply our own and were told that would not be necessary. On the wedding day, no proper serving dishes were used. Food was placed directly on tablecloths. This looked unprofessional, raised sanitation concerns, and resulted in stained and ruined linens — which we were financially responsible for replacing.
We also confirmed in advance that tables would be bused and dishes rinsed so rentals could be returned properly. We were willing to pay extra if needed and were told it would be included in our package. On the day of the wedding, staff pushed back to our planner saying it was not their responsibility. Sam then stepped in and reconfirmed that it was. Despite that, multiple tables were left dirty and dishes unrinsed. Our planner, venue staff, and bar team ultimately had to clean up what the catering team left behind. As a result, we were charged additional fees and fines by other vendors.
After the wedding, we called Sam to provide the opportunity to explain what happened. We own a wedding business ourselves and understand that unexpected issues can arise. Instead of taking accountability or offering an apology, we were told that our planner was “lying” and that this is how Uncle Nick’s “always does weddings” and they have “never had a problem.” There was no explanation and no acknowledgment of the damage or additional costs we incurred.
This was not a minor oversight. It was a pattern of misrepresentation and failure to deliver what was promised.
The food itself was fine. But wedding catering is not just about taste — it is about professionalism, presentation, sanitation, and honoring agreed-upon commitments.
What should have been a seamless and joyful part of our wedding instead caused immense stress, disappointment, and heartache. It cast a shadow over moments we cannot get back.
We truly do not recommend this company to future couples.
In all of my life, in my 62 years of life, I have never met a cannoli I didn’t like until today. There have been less good cannolis, not everyone can be Mike’s from Boston, Not everyone can be an old Italian grandma from New Jersey, But these cannolis quite succinctly were not cannolis. The filling was not cannoli filling. Some sort of whipped cream or something. It was disgusting tasting for even being a whipped cream filling. But it was entirely sacrilegious to call itself a cannoli. Shame on this location, and if any of you poor unfortunate souls have only ever had this “cannoli”, THEN you have never eaten a cannoli, you have no idea what a cannoli is, and this establishment should never ever take the cannoli name in vain again! Shame!
I had to throw in the trash, six cannolis basically throwing away $27. Who, in their right mind would ever throw away cannoli, certainly not me, which proves my point. These things were not cannolis and they were disgusting.
Edit to respond to owner:
Yes, I was there with my granddaughter and my grandson. Enjoying my retirement, and I standby my review of these fake cannolis, My husband had a bite, 64 years old, and he said why are they greasy? Try them yourself if you want to waste your money, they speak for themselves. To the owner directly, Sam Debellis, I would say just look up the recipe on how to make cannoli filling. Sam owns this Establishment with his family, they moved here from New York in 2011, and they clearly did not take a cannoli recipe with them when they left. It is a cheese based filling, whatever you’re doing, it is disgusting. This man is rude and unable to take accountability for his poor product. He has no customer service whatsoever, it is not my fault that you make a poor product, I’m not sure why he’s so angry, he seems to have emotional difficulties, but that is not my problem. I take it as a badge of honor that he would not like me to enter his store again, because he sells a terrible product, and he clearly does not want someone who knows what a cannoli tastes like to be able to enter his store. From a Sicilian woman to a fake New Yorker, Have a blessed day!
Amazing selection of bagels, breakfast sandwiches, lunch options, and of course meals to bake at home. It is impossible to not leave Uncle Nick’s satisfied. Great food, phenomenal coffee, amazing staff. 10/10 experience.
