Pleasant atmosphere and good service. The food was…odd. The enchiladas were covered with lettuce (usually they’re on the side), and the taco salad was, I guess you’d call it deconstructed, and full of veggies not normally found in taco salads. We both spent a good bit of time picking out what we didn’t want to eat. What was left was okay but nothing special.

I got the carne asada and so did. My husband and his was perfect and mine was just a little drier still tasty. The service was outstanding though. And the portion sizes are good.

El Molcajete is hands-down our parents’ favorite Mexican restaurant in Grants Pass, and it’s easy to see why. Over the past three years, we’ve made it a tradition to dine here every time we visit Oregon, and it never disappoints. Despite the stiff competition from other excellent Mexican cuisine spots in the area, El Molcajete consistently delivers a dining experience that sets it apart.

The food is always tasty. The portions are generous, as is typical of many Latin cuisine restaurants, but what stands out is the attention to detail and flavor in every dish. Most meals come with the classic rice and beans, but I personally love substituting them for a side salad and guacamole with sour cream – a fresh and delicious alternative. Our family favorites include the fish tacos, pork and beef tacos, and the flavorful chicken dishes, all of which showcase the restaurant’s mastery of traditional Mexican flavors.

The service at El Molcajete is equally impressive. Every table is attended to by a main server and an assistant server, ensuring prompt and attentive service throughout your meal. Whether it’s a refill of their fantastic margaritas (we highly recommend the skinny margarita with freshly squeezed juices) or an extra side of salsa, the staff is always eager to accommodate your needs with efficiency.

While our meals typically range between $250-$300 before tip for a party of six, it’s worth every penny. The good food, attentive service, and welcoming atmosphere make El Molcajete a standout choice for authentic Mexican dining in Grants Pass. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out!

This place is pretty awesome. From the sweet ladies who work here, the salsa and bean dip are amazing, and a cool atmosphere.

The shrimp burrito, they did great with the amount and quality of shrimp, avocado was perfect.
A few recommendations on it… I’d cut the shrimp up and sauté in a blackened or creole seasoning. Add a better other mix inside with seasonings. And fry the burrito to crisp the tortilla before covering with sauce.

It was good but could be better with that one dish. I love this place and will be back

Ok, so my wife and I stop here every time we are in Grants Pass Oregon, and I have to say, this is by far the best Mexican restaurant we have ever been lucky enough to come across. The service is awesome, the staff is super friendly, and attentive, the food is absolutely the best!
Portions are ridiculous…
This time I had the enchaladas verde…the plate must have been 16 inches across.. and filled to the brim! I would highly recommend El Molcajete to anyone and everyone.
When you’re here take notice..everyone here is having a great time.

I’m so pleased to say that this is one of the most delicious Mexican food restaurants I had been. Visiting from California where we have plenty of Mexican food restaurants this is is so far one of the best. Great customer service, thank you Blanca and the food is a 5 to 10 stars, thank you Chalino( The cook) for the effort to make every customer happy. Happy belly, happy heart happy people! Definitely I’ll be back soon! Recommend 100%

Absolutely wonderful! I have to eat dairy-free and they were so accommodating to make sure my steak fajita plate would be dairy-free. It was delicious. The lime mojito was the best I’ve ever had. My husband really enjoyed his molcajete enchiladas and jalapeno margarita. My daughter’s fried ice cream was out of this world! We don’t live here but if we visit again we’ll definitely come back.

A beautiful restaurant nestled on the corner of park and 6th. The food was delicious I ordered a carne asada burrito and when it got to my table i was surprised that it came wet (smothered in red sauce) which was about as spicy as ketchup is so if you can’t handle spice it’s definitely for you if you want flavor you’ll do what I did and splash it with tapatio which they provide you on the table. My daughter got the taco from the kids menu which disappointingly only comes with ground beef or shredded beef but its ok. My wife ordered a chile relleno burrito and she was pleased.
