We were staying in Cedar Rapids for the weekend and wanted to try a place that seemed to have good reviews when we got into town. Was easy to find street parking (Friday, early afternoon). I did love the decor/theme that went along with the name of the restaurant. We walked through the interior but ended up eating outside on the patio. It took quite a long time for someone to serve us. We had drinks and two meals. Server wasn’t too attentive even when the crowd got smaller. It did rain a bit but we were luckily under a walkway so we didn’t have to move. The fries were great and I would recommend getting the sampler where you get four flavors to dip the fries into.

If you’re a fan of Old Fashions and you don’t get the “Three Flight,” you’re seriously missing out. The standout for me was the banana-flavored Old Fashioned—perfect as a dessert drink with a sweet finish. Unexpected, but it works.
For dinner, I had the Marrakesh burger topped with chermoula, hummus, and goat cheese. Not your typical burger toppings, but the flavors came together beautifully. I also upgraded my side to the Mexico City salad—an excellent mix of spring greens and vibrant veggies. Fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully composed.
We’re self-admitted food snobs from Chicago, so trust me when I say: this place delivers something special. Unique yet approachable, creative without trying too hard. Bonus points for the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere—something we truly appreciated.
If you’re in Cedar Rapids and looking for a memorable dining experience, The Map Room is a must.

In town for a wedding & found this place within walking of the Double Tree. Small, but awesome. The entire place has various maps from different time periods, which are so cool. The food represents meals from the places that were traveled by the owners. We had the Montreal Fries (Poutine) and the gravy of the day was Marsala & Mushroom & holy crap was it awesome – took the poutine to the next level. Delicious! Friendly staff, quaint place…could be a “dive bar” but with clean bathrooms & yummy food options. Fully stocked bar, with NA beer options & when we left many were ordering the house made Bacon/Rosemary Old Fashion. Highly recommend.

Checked out The Map Room in Cedar Rapids Iowa it was a neat place. Lots of choices for burgers and sauces + toppings for fries. I had the El Paso burger with green Chile gravy, jalapeños, and fresco cheese. April had The Springfield double cheeseburger with Milwaukee Fries which were beer cheese and bacon. Great Service, Quick Kitchen, and Good Food.

I got the marrakesh burger with a veggie patty. It was just okay, not enough goat cheese or olives to balance the other flavors in my opinion. The side salad was standard. Service was good. Paid street parking available nearby (validation offered by restaurant but I couldn’t get it to work).

I’ve been to more burger joints than I can count, and The Map Room stands out as an uncontested favorite of mine. They offer such a unique, fun, and interesting array of burgers! Each one seems to be named after a location, with toppings that correspond to that region.
I ordered the Delhi Burger, which came with a flavorful curry sauce, fresh mint chutney, and paneer cheese. I’ve never come across such a creative selection of burgers so hats off to whoever designed the menu.
Beyond that, their fries are fantastic, and they offer several exciting variations to choose from. As far as drinks go, everything is very reasonably priced, and their cocktails are excellent.
Service and atmosphere are also a clear 10/10. My waiter was pleasant to chat with, and the overall ambiance of the venue is warm, inviting, and enjoyable.
All in all, this place deserves more than five stars. I’d gladly travel back to Cedar Rapids just to eat here again.

Place is tiny. I think 8 or 9 tables? And about 7 at the bar? You would benefit from making a reservation, especially on the weekend. Went on a sat night. Put our names in about 20 min prior to arriving and still had to wait about 20 min. Their menu asks customers to be mindful of others that are waiting since it is a small place, but no one really does that as there were still 3 or 4 tables that were there prior to our 3 party arrival still there as we were leaving. The burgers were pretty good. They are smash burgers. I had the Memphis, which has pulled pork on it. The pulled pork is served bare with the BBQ sauce drizzled on it, instead of the pork being smothered in sauce. It still had good flavor. My partner got the Omaha and said it was really good! He made his a double for $4 more. The fries are nice and crispy. I usually am not a fan of these style of fries, but I enjoyed these. Pepsi products, which I was happy about a it’s not often you find a place that serves Pepsi products. They had bloody marys on special. It was a little hard to drink their house made mix had too much pickle juice and Worcestershire in it, but I finished it. That was $5 on special. Tall boys are $5. Service was fantastic! There is only 1 thing in the menu geared towards kids…. a half a grilled cheese and fries for $6. Otherwise, you can choose a build your own burger for kids. My daughter just wanted a plain cheese burger, nothing fancy, and that was $10 for build your own. Our bill was $67, for 2 adult burgers, 1 build your own, 2 sodas, 1 bloody mary, and 2 tall boys. They do have other sandwiches or salads if you do not want a burger. And soup.

Map Room is easily one of the best burger spots in town. The small restaurant has excellent ambience and the best gluten free bun I’ve ever had. The Havana burger is my favorite.
