So todayFeb23, on my birthday, I came back with my son and his wife, excited to share that experience with them. We ordered one latte, one rose latte, and one tiramisu latte.
However, what we received today was quite disappointing. Both the appearance and the taste were indistinguishable, and they all tasted like regular lattes.
It was a special day for me, and I was really looking forward to it, so this experience was quite upsetting.
Because I had such a great experience before, this made it even more disappointing.
“I really love the coffee you make, so I visited again recently. However, I was a bit disappointed because the quality and presentation were quite different from the last time. I’m a big fan of your lattes, so I hope to enjoy that same great quality every time I visit!”
Upon walking in, I wasn’t greeted. When I reached the register, the employee simply stared at me until I said hello and mentioned that it was my first time there. She ignored my comment entirely. I tried to brush it off since I had driven a long way and didn’t want a rude encounter to ruin my visit. However, things continued to go downhill.
When I asked what food items they offered (since the menu didn’t list them), she handed me a menu with an attitude and a visible look of disgust. If there are cameras in the store, I genuinely hope management reviews the footage because her behavior was unprofessional and unnecessary.
I then asked if the matcha came pre sweetened; she only shook her head without saying a word. When I asked about prices for certain items that weren’t listed, she didn’t seem to know even though the prices were visible on the tablet she was using to take my order.
After paying, I noticed I had been charged extra for oat milk, though the menu only lists an upcharge for almond milk and half and half. I brought this to the owner’s attention and asked for a refund, which she initially refused to provide. It wasn’t until I firmly insisted that she finally agreed to refund my order. She did apologize, and I appreciated that, but the experience as a whole left a very negative impression.
As a restaurant owner myself, I can confidently say that customer service is the foundation of any successful business. The lack of professionalism and courtesy I experienced here was disappointing, and I hope management takes this as constructive feedback to train their staff better. No customer should feel unwelcome especially after traveling such a long distance to support a local business.
