This place was exceptional from the friendly & efficient service to the expert food preparation.
The charbroiled oysters were delectable. Both of us raved over the flavor of the chicken & sausage gumbo. Then I stole a little of my man’s crawfish étouffée: scrumptious.

The happy mojito cocktails were the best I’ve had outside of Fort Lauderdale.

I can’t wait to return to enjoy more of the menu.

Great visit to Phil’s Oyster Bar. It was a football game weekend, so it was crowded. The entire staff was awesome! We were seated at our table with a minimal wait time.
The food was delicious! We had gumbo, catfish strips, and an oyster po-boy. For drinks are party had Bloody Marys. Super yummy Bloody Mary’s!
Great stop for some great food in Baton Rouge!

After seeing that this restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, I was extremely intrigued. I recommend coming early, as this place is very busy and has limited seating. There was a 1 hour and 30 minute estimated wait when we arrived, but we were able to find bar seating. The charbroiled oysters were really good — a solid appetizer choice. The Fish Chalmette was recommended by two bar tenders, so I decided to try it. Honestly, the fish was not seasoned enough for my liking. I wish it had more flavor. Other than, it paired nicely with the spoonbread and cream sauce. This place is worth a try for sure.

Classic gulf coast seafood without the drive to New Orleans! Super friendly staff and bustling vibe combined with top notch execution on a simple but option filled menu makes this place the full package. Absolutely worth the stop any day and would definitely return!

I heard Phil’s was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives which is a big deal for a restaurant. I recently had a chance to try it out and was a little disappointed. I found the food to just be ok. The gumbo was decent as far as taste goes, plenty of ingredients, and a reasonably sized portion. The etoufee was about even on taste with the gumbo, with a less reasonably sized portion. My friends that were with me agreed that there dishes were also good but definitely not great. Hope things get better, or the spotlight is going to start dimming.

Phil’s is a great place to take in the Baton Rouge crowd, local specialty dishes like oysters, gumbo, seafood, poboy sandwiches as well as the local vibe. Very enjoyable experience all around including food, service, atmosphere, decor especially including local sports history. Be sure to try the charbroiled oysters.

We came here for the oysters, was disappointed. Oysters were very dirty with shell flakes. Told the server, manager came and exchanged them, they were less dirty but still had shell flakes. Food was good. The cooked breaded oyster had a shell flake in it too.

Great restaurant in the southdown area of Perkins Rd. Food was great, cocktails were delicious and sports themed restaurant/bar. Great location not too far from LSU campus.

Delicious Food & Friendly Vibes at Phil’s Oyster Bar

We had a fantastic dining experience at Phil’s Oyster Bar & Seafood Restaurant! The raw and charbroiled oysters were absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The catfish strips were fantastic as well—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. And whatever you do, don’t skip the white chocolate brownie for dessert—it’s the perfect sweet ending!

The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and our server Lauren made it even better. She clearly enjoys her job—she was positive, friendly, and her smile was contagious. Phil’s is a must-visit for seafood lovers looking for great food and even better service!

Garrett was our waiter and I have never been more disgusted with a waiter than I was with him. We came in late but we only ordered raw oysters and charbroiled oyster, so he didnt have to anything. The black bald headed gentleman was doing the oysters tonight. Very friendly and kind gentleman by the way. Best oysters I’ve had in forever. But our waiter was the most rude waiter I have had in 48 years of my life. Literally took out order and mean mugged us until we left. Needless to say we only had our bank cards so we had no cash to leave the oyster man and we didnt only want to tip the horrible waiter ” Garrett” so we paid our tab and left the waiter $3.00 cash which was all the cash we had on us. We left and went to the bank and pulled out $20 and went back and handed the oyster cook a $20 bill and told him how thankful we were. Then we left. I encourage the owner to talk to this waiter and let him know that no matter what time a customer comes in you should always have good customer service, otherwise go work in the plants. But overall everything else was perfect and delicious
