We stopped at My Place Montrose Café while RVing through South Dakota and were so glad we did. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming—especially Ray and the nice lady behind the counter, who took the time to chat with us about our travels and made us feel right at home. It’s rare to experience that kind of genuine hospitality, especially in a town of just over 400 people.
The burgers were tasty and made with care. We tried the Patsy Burger and the Get Smashed Burger, both served on fresh buns with quality ingredients. The sweet potato fries and tater tots were great sides. But what really made this place memorable was the warm, personal experience. We’d absolutely stop here again.

We had a surprise birthday party. They did awesome! Had a menu of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh green beans and dinner roll. It was excellent! They decorated the cafe and also had orderves on the tables waiting for us. That was very unexpected. The staff was so caring and made us feel right at home. I recommend trying this place for a quick meal or small event! Delicious! Thank you to all the staff at My Cafe!

We are always on the lookout for small town cafes that are serious about providing amazing food. My Place definitely is a contender for the best example of this. The menu has many great options and everything we tried was fantastic. Very friendly small town service made me feel right at home. We’ll definitely put My Place in our lunch ride destination list.

One of those local, hidden gem, kind of places. We pass through this area every year, in our travels. For the first time, we stopped in for breakfast.
I had the breakfast sandwich, I have ever had ! Naan bread ? Who expects that here in the rural midwest ? Nicely grilled, with eggs, cheese, bacon, and a little spinach, tucked inside.
Delicious ! The stand alone building, a former bank, has been transformed by the husband and wife owners and primary employees, into a cozy, wholesome, country cafe serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with homemade deserts, and ice cream malts and shakes.
Stop in and enjoy the authentic hospitality and love of these great folks !
Can’t wait to return !

I really wanted to give this place five stars for its food, but cannot. This restaurant is charming and the menu is very fun with a lot of interesting flavor combinations. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich and it rocked. It was one of the best pork tenderloin sandwiches I’ve ever had. I had it with the Wilbur sauce, which is their special sauce, and that stuff is amazing. My friend ordered the grown-up grilled sandwich and it was so salty she couldn’t eat it. I tried some of the sandwich and it was off the charts with salt. Even the bread was overly seasoned. It was served with a raspberry chipotle dipping sauce that was soooo good. Too bad about the sandwich. We also ordered the onion petals, and those were also a salt bomb.

Great burgers and milkshakes. They make chocolate milkshakes the right way with chocolate ice cream. Very tasty!
