The place is always clean, with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Service is fast, which I really appreciate. One thing I especially love is the meat, whether it’s chicken or beef, it’s always juicy, well-cooked, and full of flavor.
I genuinely enjoy coming to Torchy’s Tacos, and this location did not disappoint at all. Everything was great, just as expected. I’ll definitely keep coming back.
The service is usually friendly, the patio and bar add a relaxed vibe, and it makes for a great casual meal with friends or family. While a few visits have been better than others — some tacos have come out a little cold or assembly may vary — overall it’s a dependable place for satisfying, flavorful tacos and drinks.
Torchy’s Tacos is still the same with a nice staff, bartender, food and drinks. My only gripe is the self ordering console where still a bit confusing on how to use it and really not need it since there is a person working next to it to verbally take your order. You can also order at the bar. New covered tables now are outside.
I order a Chicken Fajita Damn Good Taco and even though looked messy it tasted very good. It was big too and one good to fill me up foe the day.
Hopefully this year will have green tacos and beer for St. Patrick’s Day.

I have tried every Damn Good Taco on the menu and all are very tasty with great flavor. This location is closest to my home and ordered a Chicken Fajita with the seasonal Shiner Holiday Cheer. The taco was very good as usual with its messy looks to it. Once rolled up all the ingredients go well with each other. It’s not spicy at all unless you add a kick to it. The beer was actually good with a hint of what tasted like, cranberry.
The place is always clean with a very bartender. The patio is a great place to sit at and dog friendly, but on this day was a bit too chilly. Upon leaving I did notice they serve sweet tea and took a taste and was actually good. I love it when they decorate for the holidays.
Unfortunately, my experience at the Slaughter Creek location in Austin today was the first genuinely negative service experience I’ve had at any Torchy’s.
I ordered my tacos, queso, and a bar drink, then sat down. My food came out promptly, and since I had a water cup, I wasn’t initially concerned about my cocktail. However, I nearly finished my meal before realizing my bar drink never arrived. I went up to the bar to ask about it, and the bartender told me he had already delivered it to my table.
I explained that couldn’t be the case—I had been sitting at my table the entire time, and the drink was not there. He then pointed to a completely different table, where another customer was sitting with a drink, and said that was it. When I pointed out that it clearly wasn’t my table, he told me I could go over there and get the drink myself.
This put me in an extremely awkward position. I had to walk over to another guest’s table and explain that the drink she had been given was actually mine. She was very kind and said it was fine, but she told me that the bartender had handed her the drink directly, told her it was for that table, and even insisted she keep it when she said she hadn’t ordered one.
At no point did the bartender take responsibility for the mistake or simply remake the drink. Instead, I was effectively forced to retrieve a drink that had already been handed to another customer, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary.
Mistakes happen, and I’m usually very understanding—but the way this was handled felt unprofessional and avoidable. I hope this location can improve communication and service standards, because this experience was disappointing and not reflective of what I’ve come to expect from Torchy’s
That said, the cleanliness of some locations could be improved, especially in dining areas and patios. Investing in better maintenance, sunshades, and more inviting outdoor seating could enhance the experience. Overall, the food remains excellent, and the menu offers great variety, making it a solid choice for taco lovers in Austin.
