Reviews
Okay, here we go… Yes the food was good, service was good. Only problem was the plate I ordered is not the one that I’m reviewing. My order was jacked up and this is what I ended up with. Side it back? Sure, then u might get something u really doon’t want.
I do highly recommended this restaurant.
FOOD ORDERED
– Guacamole
– Beef Enchiladas
– Chili Relleno
– Steak, Chicken. and Shrimp Fajitas
Positives
1. The building is beautiful and the ambiance was nice.
2. The wait staff was absolutely amazing
3. The food is reasonably priced.
4. The food came out fast.
5. The magarita was good as well as the Mexican mojito
Negatives
1. The food was very disappointing….lacked flavor.
2. The salsa was very bland.
3. The guacamole was tiny. At almost $7 it was about the size of two small ramekins that you would get butter in. Very disappointing. The texture, slightly lumpy, was good, but I had to add lime juice, salt, and pepper to get it to taste better. I asked, whom I assumed was the manager…as he came to the table to as if we were ok, about the size and he said that was correct.
4. The beef in the enchiladas was not seasoned. It was smothered in cheese, which is good…but only if the filling is good. Looked really good…but unflavorful.
5. The chili relleno was cooked really well…but was rather flat tasting. Again, as with the enchiladas, smothered in cheese but unflavorful.
6. The fajitas were actually well seasoned but the steak was really tough.
7. The refried beans were very bland and runny with a sour cream-ish consistency.
Overall thoughts….
If you’re looking to go to a Mexican restaurant for drinks…this is your spot. If you plan on eating….I would look elsewhere.
It’s a busy Wednesday night and I came solo. I was seated at a booth, not the bar RIGHT away.. greeted at the table and the door RIGHT away. Complimentary chips and salsa were out to me in 60 seconds. My server greeted me within 90 seconds. My first drink was to me in 120 seconds. I came to drink but my chips and salsa were refilled. My server stayed attentive with me throughout my visit Despite him juggling multiple other tables who were drinking AND dining. He remained patient with me and didn’t rush me off because I wasn’t ordering an entree. After two hours I finally decided to order food. I ordered my third round and it came immediately. Ordered my food and went to use the restroom and it was piping hot on the table when I returned less than three minutes later.
The drinks are STRONG. The food is FLAVORFUL!! Everything taste FRESH.
Like, I couldn’t even wait to get back to my quarters to write this review. I’m still sitting at this table sipping my drink. The bill?? Super affordable. I’m glad I came to enjoy my last night here in bowling green at El Maz. Unfortunately it will be my first and last time but no fault of their own. Thank you for having me and delivering a great experience! Make sure you guys check them out during happy hour for these super strong and affordable drinks if you haven’t already.
Signing out of bowling green, Lyric.
Original review – We’re new to town and this place is literally next door so we had to try it out. This is literally the largest Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to.
Pros:
1. The music was awesome! Lots of reggaeton. I was dancing in my seat the whole time I was eating.
2. Bar looked very inviting.
3. Service was good and the food came crazy fast.
Cons:
1. There was literally no seasoning on the food whatsoever. This is a huge mark against them.
2. Their menu was large but it was very basic. Nothing special or really enticing.
3. The beans started out good but the texture and oily sheen put me off.
The food was better after I added salt. I’ll return because I live so close, but hopefully they actually add seasoning next time.
