I don’t love having to share this review, but after the last couple times of ordering, we’ve just been very disappointed. The butter chicken is getting lighter and lighter in color and less flavorful every time we order. It’s almost light yellow in color vs a nice deeper almost red like it used to be. It tastes like coconut milk and that’s about it. The garlic naan has gotten tiny, flavorless and expensive. The lamb samosas were incredibly dry as well. Saag paneer was ok. For the price we pay, I don’t even want to order it any more. You HAVE to either dine in or pick up because if you try ordering online for delivery, you’ll pay almost $30-40 more. We love to try and eat at local and long standing restaurants, but probably won’t order from here anymore because $100 for 2 people for takeout that’s just meh isn’t worth it.

This is a little hidden treasure! We have seen this place in the strip mall, but never went in. Bad mistake on our part! From the moment you enter, you are made to feel welcome. The atmosphere is upscale casual, water goblets and linen napkins adorn the tabletops. We were seated and offered delicious papadam while we looked at the menu. They have a nice selection of dishes. We ordered the vegetable samosas, chicken tikka kebab, and tandoori shrimp. The samosas came out piping hot and were crisp and tasted amazing! The main was plated beautifully and were seasoned to perfection! The chicken was moist and tender, the shrimp were slightly overcooked but still flavored beautifully. The vegetables were perfect, with a little crunch left in them. We will return and try the buffet!

Amazing service from Kamal! Made sure my glass was never empty. I had the lamb and chicken biryani with meat samosa and garlic naan. Phenomenal flavored and large portions. The mint and coriander chutney was amazing!

You can tell things have changed since the old owner left but overall still and excellent experience. Wish the buffet was a little bit hotter in temperature but everything tasted good

Amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious! My Moscow mule was refreshing and made right. They checked up on us continously to make sure we were good. I will definitely return and bring others for this above and beyond experience. Thank you again for the 10 out of 10 hospitality.

I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to food, but the food here was amazing! The chicken starter was the best I’ve ever had along with the other appetizers and the meal! Whether you’re new or not to Indian food this is the place to go!
And a personal thank you to the owner for making me feel welcome and ensuring I had a great experience!

Best Indian food around. It was recommended to me by Indian folks I work with. They said it was the closest thing to true authentic Indian food. Great stuff… Highly recommend

This might be more of a 3.5 star review but the courteous service pushed it to 4. Overall a fine experience at SOI. The restaurant is a bit worn but clean and nicely decorated. The food was fairly average, with no dishes really calling for a return visit. It seems like a perfectly fine standby for a local curry spot, but traveling across town seems too far considering how much new Indian there is now.

We’ve been eating and ordering takeout from this place for years. And all of the sudden lower portions that are watery (curry, masala, tandoori etc.). We usually spend more than $50 here.
And recently we ordered takeout for a family members birthday. We all have upset stomachs and the runs.
Not sure if it’s a new chef, change in management, inflation etc.
But that will be the last time we ever order from Star of India. Very disappointed ☹️

It has taken a year to write this review and I have been meaning to leave it for quite some time, that’s the kind of impression this place left on my crew. First time eating Indian dishes and it exceeded my expectations. This family owned restaurant treated us like regulars and although I wish we were, we live 2,500 miles away and I still crave their food. The story behind how this place began and what they do without bragging is phenomenal. I would give a million stars if I could. Much love.
