I believe my server’s name was Royal and boy did he give me the Royal treatment. The food is always spectacular at this location. That happy hour from 3-5 PM on the weekends is such an insanely good deal! The entire staff was so hospitable. This place sparkles.

This is my all time favorite sushi place in Portland! It is the perfect place! You get great quality raw fish and the price is truly unbeatable. I’m originally from Portland but now only go back 1-2 times a year and I make sure every time I go home I visit this place. Whenever I have a special occasion I take my friends and family to this restaurant. I have always found the service to be great and the ambience impeccable. I love the interior of this restaurant, it has a casual Japanese feel and I love it! Every single item I’ve ever tried from here is amazing and honestly you can’t go wrong with anything you get! My personal favorite is the chiefs choice nigri set. That’s is amazing!

Love the food here. Excellent sushi. The tuna sashimi was outstanding. Felt rushed and server forgot my wine. With improved service this would easily be a 5 star restaurant in every catergory. I will be back because the sushi is so great that I can overlook service. I suggest ordering menu items separately when your ready for the next one. The kitchen is super fast. Thank you Bamboo! We will be back.

Bamboo Sushi is a nice spot for good sushi. The atmosphere is very intimate and semi-romantic. Our drinks for the night were the Bamboo Old Fashion and the Moonlight, both were quite tasty. Our miso salad was good. The sushi rolls we ordered were tasty as well (I don’t remember which ones we ordered, but no complaints). We also ordered the brownie ice cream dessert which didn’t disappoint.

Went here for my birthday. A lovely experience sitting at the sushi bar. Everyone was very kind and attentive. The food was amazing and very fresh. The atmosphere was laid back and calming. My only issue is the chairs at the bar are not very comfortable for bigger people, this is compounded by the lack of a place under the bar to rest your feet.

Wow! The best sushi I’ve had in years! This place was highly recommended by our server at a lovely winery in Washington and it did not disappoint! We had the salmon flight + king salmon belly, the sunset roll, and the spicy tuna crispy rice along with the bright sake flight and hazy IPA and everything was fantastic! Great service and cozy but modern ambiance made this an excellent spot.

Food was good but the service was odd. Asked for a salad as a starter and it came after my entree. Asked to cancel the salad before it hit the table. Hadn’t even finished my drink before I was asked if I wanted to close out. I’ll just go somewhere else next time.

Great spot for some delicious sushi! Staff are friendly and helpful. I can imagine this place gets really busy during dinner time, so make sure to arrive a bit early outside the dinner rush. The black miso cod is excellent!

Worst service I have ever experienced.

My husband and I chose this spot for my birthday dinner based on friends’ recommendation. Huge mistake.

We arrived 15 minutes early, apparently a big no no here. Despite three (then four) blatantly empty tables right in front, the hostesses couldn’t be bothered to seat us until the reservation time hit exactly. Nothing screams “welcome” like forcing customers to stand awkwardly while open tables gather dust for no reason. I would understand this if the restaurant were busy, if there was a wait, or if guests with earlier reservations were ahead of us. but, no.

We were finally seated right at the reserved time which honestly felt like a joke at that point, we were seated by the door, of course, where a constant cold draft made keeping jackets on mandatory and comfort impossible. We politely asked to switch to the corner table that had just cleared (still dirty). She said It’s reserved for someone else. Felt more like they just didn’t want to wipe it down for us. The entire staff radiated zero warmth, zero smiles, zero effort. The whole experience felt actively unwelcome, like they were annoyed we showed up to dine and silently wished we’d leave.

Food was equally underwhelming. Two rolls took 30 minutes to arrive. The soy sauce bottle was completely empty, despite having 15 minutes to prep the table, no one checked a thing. The fish was mushy, tasteless, and far from fresh. Fake wasabi too, because why bother with quality when the prices already pretend it’s premium? For what they charge and claim, this was straight up mediocre.

This was meant to be a special night. Instead, it was cold (literally and figuratively), uncomfortable, and miserable. We barely ordered anything beyond the basics and couldn’t wait to escape. If you’re thinking of reserving here: don’t arrive early, or at all. They clearly don’t value your business or your evening. Never returning.

Sushi has always been fresh and delicious and staff is attentive and friendly, no matter how busy (which is most of the time) they are. Our favorite server is leaving to return to her career path as a “Potter” and we wish her well.
