We stopped in for the Lunch buffett. The variety of food was GREAT! The price was reasonable. The waiter was very friendly and asked us how’s the food and if we needed anything. We were impressed on the variety of options on what to eat and availability of kid food and deserts. Everything tasted great, vegetables were fresh and I loved the availability of the grill. We defineatly recommend Chen’s!!!!

The food is decent for a buffet, but the front desk experience was disappointing. We visited during lunchtime on a Sunday and understand that dinner pricing applies all day. However, we were still charged a dinner price for our 2-year-old, even though the receipt clearly states children are charged ages 3–10. This should have been handled correctly.

Five stars for variety and being kid-friendly (pizza, Jell-O, ice cream, juices). Food overall is about three stars (especially the entrée sauces and soups–flavors just seem off). Plenty of attentive wait staff. Lunch is $11.99 for adults and $7.99 for kids (ages 3-10). I mostly go for the solid sushi station. (Side bar: iceberg lettuce does NOT belong in a sushi roll.) Mongolian barbecue station is a nice touch. The interior leaves something to be desired but the recently remodeled bathrooms are great and kept clean. This is the only Chinese buffet left in the Saginaw area.

The Mongolian BBQ at Chens was excellent. The gentleman cooked it perfectly. I also had some items off the regular buffet, all was hot and tasty. Very pleased with the food and my visit.

2025: I haven’t been here in a couple of years, and it’s been updated! I like it. The food is still good quality. Now they’ve added ice cream coolers stocked full with a variety of ice cream, but they still have the soft serve as well. They added a hot dog griller and a cooler stocked full of a variety of juices and also a whole shelf of different Chinese candy. How cool and fun! My boys absolutely loved it. I went for lunch, $12.99 adult, $8.99 kid and under 3 is free. Bathrooms were clean.
2021: Buffet is now open! Self serve. Limited seating due to the pandemic. The food tastes just like it always has, however, there is one buffet serving station that is empty and the prices have increased. The grill is open, and the sushi is stocked. Would prefer bigger drink glasses or maybe a self serve drink station due to sitting most of the meal with an empty glass. The waitress was very nice, but not very attentive with her tables and their refills. Overall, I’m happy they are back open and recommend.
2023: Same great tasting food, but the prices have skyrocketed! $13.99/adult, $6.99 for my 6yo, and $8.50 for 3 pops. Was it worth over $40? No. But with inflation, I know it’s not their fault for the price hikes. Drink cups are still small, glad our server was great and on top of refills because Chinese food always makes me super thirsty. Will be back again, just not as often due to the new prices.

It’s been several years since I’ve been here and the selection of food, even for lunch, had increased. The sushi got more impressive instead of basic rolls. 12.99 per adult for lunch so it’s a great price. I’d definitely like to come again soon.

The guy operating the grill definitely does not like his job. He mixed up someone else’s food with mine. Then slapped the plate up on the counter. Myself and at least 3 other people were standing there trying to figure out who’s food was who’s. Meanwhile another customer is standing there trying to get him to pull her steak she ordered medium rare and was clearly on its way to well done.

Was pretty good I worry trying new places cuz I know what I like and I don’t like paying money and not liking the food. so I was pleasantly surprised. definitely will come back. hoping to come try the lunch buffet soon
