We had our wedding at Hawthornes and it was absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff was professional, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our day perfect. The venue itself is stunning — perfect for us since we love the outdoors — and created the most beautiful backdrop for our ceremony, photos, and celebration.
So many of our guests complimented the atmosphere, food, and flow of the night. Every detail was handled seamlessly, and we never once had to stress. The team went above and beyond to make sure we felt taken care of, and it truly allowed us to just enjoy every moment.
We couldn’t have imagined a better place to celebrate becoming Mr. & Mrs. If you’re considering this venue for your wedding, do it — you won’t regret it!

We’ve been going to Hawthorne’s for a few years now. Our first time was when my husband’s company had their annual picnic there. We were really impressed with their food and set-up. Now, we go with more family to watch Bears games. We love food variety and outdoor seating. The staff is also friendly. When they are short staffed, they do need to do a better job of checking in with their guests. However, overall, we haven’t had any real complaint with their waitstaff. Our only complaint is the wasps. We’ve gone a few times during late Sept/early October, when wasps are scavenging for their end of the season food, and it’s bad. They are swarming everywhere. I hope moving forward, they set up traps to make sure no one gets bit or scared.

A great place to eat. We (wife & I) attended a fund-raiser for a local park district. The team at Hawthornes Backyard provided a fantastic luncheon for the friends and families in attendance. Approximately 200 attended the event. The main course was smoked pulled pork, which was fantastic. I would highly recommend this establishment, for a great casual dining experience.

Typically, I have a good experience here. This was the first time we were disappointed. My husband ordered the Cajun lemon pepper wings. They tasted nothing like that. Actually, they didn’t taste much like anything. There was no seasoning of anything that could be detected, and a couple were tough. I absolutely DO NOT EAT SPICY, and I was able to eat one no problem because there is no trace of spicy or any spice at all.
I had the grouper tacos. They were OK, again no seasoning of any kind detected, and if it hadn’t been for the slaw that was over it, it would have been completely bland. Speaking of the slaw, the description did not state it contained Jalapeños. Again, I don’t do spicy, but luckily, it wasn’t much, and I was able to pick them off. There was an event going on that evening, and they were pretty busy, so maybe the kitchen staff was overwhelmed… our waitress was friendly and service was ok. anyway, this was not our typical experience, and it won’t keep us from returning in hopes that this was just an off night for them.

It is a pretty cool place but unfortunately we stop by during the game and it was so loud that you didnt even heard the server. After the game they lowered the volume so we were able to talk. Anyway good ribs and not to spicy chicken wings. Both soups were delicious

I’m pretty sure the owner had a word with the weatherman and requested a perfect day for dining out (yes, we’re borrowing that bit of sarcasm from another review—loved it!).
We walked in and were seated right away. Our server took our drink order promptly and came back shortly after for our food order. Within 10–15 minutes, our meals arrived—and they were delicious! We ordered the ribs, a cheeseburger, and a Jr. cheeseburger.
Our 10-year-old had a blast playing with the other kids, which made the whole experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back more often—Hawthorne never disappoints!

Ordered ribs with coleslaw and buffalo chicken pasta salad. Definitely recommended
Ribs were great, coleslaw way too much vinegar over powering if home made cut back a bit , but the cut n contents of the slaw were excellent. Buffalo pasta salad was very good definitely has a kick.
Ordered the brisket dip sandwich , awesome flavor definitely had a kick with the jalapeno rub on it with the very warm aujus..definitely recommended
Ordered pulled pork sandwich with mac n cheese, again very good.
Over all food was very good had a few drink issues but resolved, atmosphere was great…definitely will be back!
