You enter the room and order from a lady sitting at a table at the entrance. Then, you pay for the food at the cashier and get your number to which someone brings the drinks and food.
.
Yes, they had watermelon for sale, as well as single slices of cake and T-shirts. 3 flat screen TVs surround the room (all showing NASCAR while we were there) with Christian related art on the walls.
Catfish is what we came for and we got more than we bargained for. Normally, at least in this area, a “large” catfish is 3 fish, a regular is 2.
When ordering, you specify the size of the fish you want – small, medium or large – along with the quantity. We both went medium sized.
So our large order of medium-sized fish were 6 (six!) fish, plus hushpuppies, crinkle fries and slaw for $12.
When you taste the sweet tea and it’s made like a good Southern sweet tea should be made, there is hope on how this fish is going to taste. Man, this fish was outstanding! Breading was more of a flour and egg wash than cornmeal. Fish meat was flaky but firm.
In short, this is the best catfish I’ve had in this state since moving here 20 years ago.
Oh, and neither of his finished the plate. We await the leftovers tomorrow.
