That said, tonight was beyond disappointing.
We ordered delivery in -2 degree weather (two fajita dinners), and they arrived without tortillas. We do not have tortillas at home. We do not have the energy—or desire—to risk black ice and freezing temps to go to the grocery store (shoutout to the delivery driver doing the Lord’s work). At that point, it completely defeats the purpose of delivery.
Grubhub refunded one of the fajita meals (about $30) because… what is the point of a fajita without a tortilla? But they did not refund the other.
I called the restaurant. The hostess was clueless and transferred me to the manager, James. While James was polite, he was ultimately unhelpful. He claimed the Grubhub driver signed off on the order, and I explained that it is illegal for drivers to open sealed food packages to check whether tortillas are included. That seemed to stump him entirely. He then hung up on me before the issue was resolved.
Kind, but helpless.
This experience honestly made me lose a lot of faith in a place I’ve loved for years. Mistakes happen—but how they’re handled matters just as much.
Do better.
I wasn’t sure what to get and Abdullah recommended me Grilled Salmon Fajita. The best food I have had in a long time. Thank you Abdullah and the rest of the workers at La Palapa!! I will be returning.
We ordered two fajita dinners via delivery. The food arrived without tortillas. They were not in the bag, not wrapped separately, not hidden in foil — they were not there. A fajita without tortillas is, by definition, incomplete, which is why one meal was refunded by the delivery service.
The owner’s claim that the tortillas were “confirmed at pickup” is irrelevant to the customer experience. The restaurant is responsible for ensuring all required items are actually included in the order, not the driver. Drivers do not open sealed bags or inventory food.
More concerning is the claim that a phone call “escalated to repeated profanity and personal insults.” This is categorically untrue. The entire call was on speakerphone and recorded on our home security system, and at no point was profanity used or insults directed at staff. We have video and audio documentation of the full interaction.
Frustration is not abuse. Asking for missing items is not abuse. And publicly accusing customers of misconduct to deflect responsibility is unacceptable.
We would have let this go as a simple delivery mistake. The decision to misrepresent events in a public response is why we’re updating this review.
