Reviews
Charles Hearn’s review has been my experience on more than one occasion Parry’s. When they do it right (conscientiously), its very good. In particular they have really good sauce. I worked in the Pizza industry for many years and like to think I can appreciate a well executed pizza.
We go to Parry’s because we always need a gluten free pizza in our group, and we think they do a good job with that.
However, too many times our pizzas simply look cheap. Very little toppings (and I know that you can have too many toppings), and sloppy assembly. Large gloopy areas of sauce in some spots and others with hardly a drop. Cheese that is spread sporadically, and as Charles noted the few toppings that are put on don’t even start until you are an inch and a half away from the crust. If I wanted mostly dough, I would go to Beaujos.
Although we have ordered here numerous times, this will be the last for a while. It’s awkward to call and order on the phone and say “can you please put toppings on the pizza all the way to the crust.
I Will try again in a few months. Photos of best and worst slices attached. The second photo is a slice of a half and half pie that belonged to the side with more toppings
Now the view is amazing, it almost makes up for everything else. Almost..
I’d be a little more forgiving of this place didn’t play up that it’s “New York Pizza” so hard.
For good pizza that’s closer to home, try Fat Sully’s downtown on Tejon.
We also got the up town mozzarella (aka cheese sticks) for $10 for 4. That’s $2.50 each. After one bite, it was obvious that it was just the breading. Maybe 5 bites per stick and one of those bites would have cheese.
Prior to tonight’s order, I had gotten the chicken caesar wrap, which was delicious! So flavorful, so fresh, literally no complaints.
Also got a small order of parmesan bites, which are the real star of the show. This is where I got the false impression that the pizza was going to be good. Those bits are supposed to be made of the same pizza dough, which there is no resemblance at all.
Moral of the story, some of the food is good, all the pizza is bad.
She is hands down one of the best servers we’ve ever had. She’s funny, attentive, remembers our usual order, and makes us feel welcome from the minute walk in the front doors. It’s rare to find someone who can do this.
We have plenty of places we could go, but we choose this one because of the environment she provides. The food and beer will have you here once, but if you’re lucky enough to have Miranda as your server, you’ll come in time and time again!
Will literally be back for her if nothing else
