The staff here was very nice. I had a several questions for 3 different staff members I encountered and they were all happy to answer my questions and had good energy.
The burger I got was unique and very much a craft burger. They have a lot of dry-aged meats here (including their burger), and I thought it was good and still a little juicy. The fries were average fries. I also got an orange crush that was also good, a cider, and sampled their slushies. They have a strawberry bourbon slushie I really liked. I would have ordered it but it was strong and I had already gotten the crush, so I’ll just have to come back for it. The other slushie was a coffee one and I’m not a huge coffee person, but if you like coffee, you’d probably like that.
Children are allowed here until 7 pm I believe. Unfortunately, they do not do tours (anymore). I’d like to see them bring this back because I’m always interested in the process and also hearing about how things are produced.
You order food on one side (and can also order cocktails on that side too) but the beers and others are ordered on the brewery side. You’re able to open a tab on either side though and it will be connect, so you don’t have to do multiple transactions.
Jailbreak Brewery is basically what happens when your favorite hip-hop playlist links up with a foodie’s dream and a gamer’s man cave. Laurel, MD, you’re low-key flexing with this spot.
First things first: the beer game. I tried one rocking the Wu-Tang logo (don’t even remember the name, but when the Wu is stamped on it, you know it’s legit). Smooth, flavorful, had me ready to drop a verse.
The food lineup was no slouch either:
• Curry Cauliflower – Crunchy, saucy, with a kick that keeps you going back for “just one more bite.”
• Steak Frites (Korean Style) – Straight fire. Juicy steak, bold seasoning, and fries that didn’t come to play.
• Mushroom Flatbread – Earthy, cheesy perfection that disappeared faster than the pinball balls I lost in their retro arcade corner.
And the vibe? Chef’s kiss. The dining room’s got this industrial-chic thing going with polished wood tables and a living wall of greenery. Meanwhile, the back corner is stacked with pinball machines (Halloween, Big Lebowski, you name it) that make you forget you’re in Laurel and not some underground Brooklyn lounge. Add in the chill hip hop playlist—think 90s boom-bap, but at a “sip your beer and nod your head” volume—and you’ve got a whole mood.
Bottom line: Jailbreak Brewery is the kind of spot you “accidentally” spend three hours in. Great food, dope beer, beats that don’t miss, and enough pinball nostalgia to keep you coming back. 10/10 would jailbreak from my usual routine again.
