I don’t often give a restaurant one star, but trust me, I’m being generous. The chicken was so dry I couldn’t swallow it. I ran my finger across a piece of it and it feels like paper. The potato salad is very bland and doesn’t taste like any of the usual potato salad types. The green beans have a very strange taste, as well.
My husband had the ribs and he said they’re like leather. The baked beans are way too sweet.
Seriously not one good dish.

Wasn’t expecting to stop in for lunch on a pickup for a vintage coffee table, but I’m glad I did. It’s a cute little spot tucked away in the corner with fitting decor, my favorite soda on the soda machine, and oldies hits playing. The charming, nice lady behind the counter had some good quips, and great hospitality. A rockstar in her field. They boast the best barbecue, but I wouldn’t know. My partner and I both had the smoked egg salad sandwich, which absolutely slapped me silly (in a good way). The bread was soft but crusty on the outside, had a perfect texture to carry the delectable, moist egg salad that lay between the pieces of bread and fresh leafy greens. The smoky flavor added a certain je ne sais quois to this sandwich that set it apart from other egg salad sandwiches. The menu offered many other smoked meats. However, the method of cooking was a topic of debate between my partner and I- which begets the question… are the eggs smoked?

Super casual cute vintage place with great food. Love the tri-tip sandwich on sourdough bread with chimichurri sauce!! Excellent salad options, great barbecue, good variety of sandwiches that are made mostly on bread baked in house and killer Cookies! Some of the best in town!

This review’s for the BBQ. I love barbecue I’ve had Lexington style in North Carolina, Memphis style in Tennessee, South Carolina style out of Spartanburg, and of course, the brisket out of Texas. I usually give a lot of grace when it comes to BBQ, but this one I just couldn’t.
The brisket had zero seasoning and tasted like someone slow-cooked a leather boot in a crock pot. No rendered fat, just sadness. The sauces were actually quite good, the coleslaw was solid, and the pulled pork was… fine, like a participation trophy fine. But the brisket? Criminal.
See photo… that little pile of disappointment set me back $50.

Come for the shopping stay for the bbq! I’d honestly give this a 7/10 on the smokehouse scale. Delicious treat when you need a break from shopping. But be prepared if you go on the weekend, this place is a big deal!

The food was better than I expected. We received a free large bottle of BBQ sauce because we spent 40 on lunch. The bakery items, which I didn’t get to try this time around, looked soo dang good!!

I love this place ! It has been a hidden gem but it’s about time the community takes notice! Super delicious bakery and barbecue. Fun and nostalgic assortment of cold bottled sodas to shop. Love the location inside merchant square as it makes for a lovely outing paired together with the food and browsing!

We tried this place for lunch one afternoon while going shopping at the Merchant Square. We were greeted and they took our order. This is a walk up style restaurant then when the food is ready they bring it out to your table. The cashier was very helpful and friendly we ordered the Smoked Brisket sandwich, Smoked Pastrami sandwich and the Tri-Tip sandwich. They all were fantastic and so delicious. They also sell backed goods like Brownies which are delicious and Cookies also very tasty. Very rustic seating area with old school chairs for seats. The restaurant was very clean as were the restrooms. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. We cannot wait to return.

The brisket is tender and the sauces tasty. Baked beans with bacon were a hit for all. The potato salad is a miss — not enough flavor But everything else was great. Will be back!
