Everything from the meal to the service to the ambience was spectacular! We started with the Brussels sprouts and fig/goat cheese bruschetta! Could have stopped there and been over-the-moon happy! Entree of spice halibut special (split between the 2 of us). Stephanie was so very kind and attentive! She also made sure to address my request via the open table reservation for a birthday surprise dessert!! She provided the absolute epitome of excellent customer service! Highly recommend!

Plank’s Tavern on the Water is a fantastic waterfront spot that delivers both great views and an enjoyable dining experience. We stopped in for food and cocktails, and overall everything was very well done. The food was solid and satisfying, the kind of menu that pairs naturally with being on the water and encourages you to take your time and enjoy the setting. The cocktails were well made and tasted great, though the portions were a bit on the small side for the price. That said, the quality was there, and the drinks complemented the atmosphere nicely.
The service was friendly and welcoming, though it did feel a little rushed at times. Even so, the staff remained pleasant and attentive, and nothing detracted from the overall experience. What really sets this place apart is the view. The waterfront setting is beautiful, especially during the off season when things are quieter and more relaxed. Being able to sit back, enjoy a drink, and take in the scenery made the visit feel special rather than just another meal out.
Pricing felt fair overall, with the caveat that drinks lean slightly expensive. During the off season, the quieter environment made it even more enjoyable, allowing for easy conversation and a slower pace. We would absolutely go back and would recommend Plank’s Tavern on the Water to locals, travelers, couples, or anyone who appreciates a good meal with a great view.

We went to have dinner not so long ago, food was okay, starters were great! I had the whitefish and I did not enjoy it as much as I wanted to, it’s a personal preference to have the skin off, there was a lot on it which made it a hassle for me to eat also it was a little overcooked.

Overall a pretty nice dinner experience. Prices were reasonable. The food and menu were unique. Service was slow paced, and it seems as though it was intended. Most of the tables were enjoying conversation and sitting outdoors on a nice evening. Everything took quite a bit of time, from receiving the drink to paying the check. The prices were fair. The food was good.

Plank’s Tavern on the Water is inside Inn at Harbor Shores and not your typical hotel gastropub. The wine and appetizers are quite picturesque and menu a mix between fresh and fried. We chose to go heavy on appetizers. Started with an Herb & Loaf which is enough for a table of four, followed by some Caviar bumps to get a sampling of Russia’s finest. First course; Oysters on the half shell, with side of Osetra Caviar and a nice bottle of Cortenova Pinot Grigio and we’re off to a good start. Our second course of Tuna Tartare marinated on a spicy ponzu livened with avocado cream, was a bit bland however the pineapple and mango bits with crisp wontons stole the show. Basket of Shrimp were quite delightful as larger 15/20 cocktail shrimp were properly served cleaned with tails on. Next course the Proverb Sauvignon Blanc paired well with the crisp Calamari and Fish and Chips. Both battered and flash fried to perfection. While not directly on the water, the patio offers a partial view of the Harbor and lake. We had wonderful service inside and moved outside to enjoy drinks and dessert. The Le Jade Chardonnay fruit forward and clean taste really brought out the chocolate cake and Chocolate and Vanilla gelato. Hearing the locals rave about their brunch menu… we’ll have to make another trip for the Chicken and Waffles and Shrimp and Bacon Cheddar grits when in St Joseph’s at Plank’s Tavern on the Water.

This is my second trip to planks and everything I’ve tried has been very good. Staff is friendly and the place has a great vibe, perfect for a dinner date or casual dining. The pretzel is a must try for an appetizer, even though it is $25. Yes that’s a lot for apretzel, but it’s huge and could easily serve as an app for 4-6 people.
