We visited this restaurant for the first time today and the food was really delicious! We had the Bacon Jam Burger, the Kids Burger, and the Grilled Cheese — everything was cooked well and tasted great. I just wish the bacon jam had been a little sweeter and that the bacon flavor came through more. One small downside: our food didn’t come out at the same time. The fries arrived first, and then we waited about 10 more minutes for the rest of the food. The Tres Leches Milkshake was absolutely delicious, but the Brownie Milkshake unfortunately didn’t taste good at all — it had a strange aftertaste, almost like sanitizer. Overall though, it’s a great restaurant with friendly service and tasty food. We’ll definitely come back!

We walked up to order & was asked if we wanted to tip, I said, tip for what? taking our order because we hadn’t received any service. The young lady at the register stated if you don’t tip, we only make $3/hr.
If this were true, why would you work at this place?
The fries are in a giant metal bowl, you definitely get a ton but almost $9 not worth it unless you are with a group of ppl who are going to help eat them.
Burgers were ok, nothing special really.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Austin sets the standard for what a modern burger experience should be. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere strikes a balance between lively and comfortable — a space that reflects Austin’s unique energy while still offering the kind of warmth that makes you feel at ease whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular. The interior design is modern yet approachable, with plenty of seating options that make it suitable for solo diners, groups of friends, or families looking for a casual but elevated meal.

The menu is crafted with care and immediately sets itself apart from the average burger restaurant. At its core, Hopdoddy is about delivering quality. Every burger feels intentional — the combinations aren’t just gimmicky or overloaded with toppings, but rather thoughtfully built to bring out the best in each ingredient. The patties themselves are outstanding: juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked precisely to order. The buns, often an afterthought in other establishments, are perfectly baked and sturdy enough to support each bite without being too dense. It’s a detail that reflects the kitchen’s commitment to balance and consistency.

I opted for the [insert specific burger if you’d like personalization], and it was clear from the first bite why Hopdoddy has earned such a reputation. The flavors were bold yet harmonious, with each element — from fresh vegetables to carefully chosen cheeses — enhancing the patty rather than overwhelming it. This is what elevates Hopdoddy from a simple burger bar to a destination in its own right.

The sides are equally impressive. The fries are particularly memorable — golden, crispy, and addictive, with just the right amount of seasoning. They arrive piping hot and hold their texture throughout the meal, which speaks to both the quality of the potato and the preparation. Pairing them with one of the house-made dipping sauces, especially the truffle aioli, turns them into a standout dish on their own. These are not just “sides” but essential parts of the experience.

On the beverage side, Hopdoddy continues to impress with its bar program. The craft beer list highlights local selections, making it a great spot for anyone wanting to pair their meal with an authentic taste of Austin’s brewing scene. Their cocktails are well thought-out and provide a refreshing alternative for those wanting something beyond the usual. The milkshakes, while enjoyable, did not quite reach the same exceptional standard set by the burgers and fries. They were good, but less remarkable — more of a sweet finish than a centerpiece of the experience.

Service was consistently strong throughout the visit. Despite the busy pace of the restaurant, the staff maintained professionalism, efficiency, and genuine friendliness. Orders were delivered accurately and promptly, and staff members checked in just enough to ensure everything was satisfactory without being intrusive. That level of attentiveness demonstrates not only good training but also a culture of hospitality that enhances the overall dining experience.

Hopdoddy is also worth praising for its versatility. It is equally fitting for a casual lunch, an evening out with friends, or even a family meal. The environment feels inclusive and accommodating, with a menu that offers enough variety to satisfy different preferences without straying from its core strength — incredible burgers. The balance of quality, creativity, and consistency is rare, and Hopdoddy achieves it with ease.

In summary, Hopdoddy Burger Bar more than earns its five-star rating. The food is excellent, the service is reliable, and the atmosphere captures the best of Austin dining: casual, modern, and distinctly welcoming. While the shakes were simply “okay,” this does not diminish the overall experience, which remains exceptional from start to finish. For anyone searching for one of the best burgers in Austin — or anywhere, for that matter — Hopdoddy is a destination that delivers not only on flavor but on the complete dining experience.

Worst order ever. I specifically asked for 3 pickles (as written on the receipt), but instead they gave me around 15 pickles piled onto the sandwich and in the box. Completely ignored the instructions. It made the sandwich soggy and not enjoyable at all. Very disappointed with the attention to detail.

Had the best cashier this afternoon 01/20, she went out of her way to ensure we got everything we wanted a more. Her friendly demeanor, attentiveness to details and knowledge throughly impressed. It is so challenging to find good service and the staff absolutely exceeded all expectations. Also, Thank you so much for helping my 3 year olds chocolate milk dreams come true. Customers for life

Love hopdoddy. Buns are always soft. Burgers always cooked to perfection (med-rare as it should be). Flavors are tasty, fries are crispy, and margaritas are sweet when I ask for em. Such wonderful workers and food. Can never go wrong with hopdoddy, whether here or in houston!

If you’re a burger lover, do yourself a favor and stop by this gem! I came in on a slow night, and from the moment I saw the menu, I knew I was in for something special. The variety had me hyped, but the real magic happened when the amazing staff helped me craft one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time.

I went with the Bacon Double Jam, but with a twist—ADD bacon, an egg over medium, and jalapeños (shoutout to the cook for these game-changing recommendations!). Every single bite was packed with flavor, and my taste buds were basically singing in appreciation. The fries? Crispy perfection. And let’s talk about their ice—I don’t know what it is about great ice, but it’s a small touch that makes a big difference!

Beyond the food, the service was top-notch—quick, friendly, and genuinely helpful. If you’re ever unsure about what to order, just chat with the staff, and they’ll make sure you get something amazing.

10/10, no notes. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

It was our first time here. We just looked up a burger joint and this place caught my eyes. The burgers looked good on picture. Once we arrived we looked at the menu. We approached the counter and we were not asked if we needed help or explanation how it goes. I ordered my burger and asked does it come with fries? And she said no. Its just the burger and didnt really explain that you have to order fries until she said do you want shareable fries? And we said yes. We ordered the nachos fries. Long story short burgers were good but a lot smaller than I imagined. fries were overly seasoned so it made it hard to really enjoy them or want to finish them. We thought about taking them home but we knew we weren’t going to even finish them due to the seasoning. Definitely needs help with customer service skills.
