My friend ordered a pizza and a glass of wine. The problem with the salad was that there wasn’t much avocado. In the entire salad, there were 5 cubes of a centimeter square. You could see one peaking out in the photo. It was basically a mound of arugula in olive oil, not much else. There were a few shavings of Parmesan, but really not much. For $16.50, there really wasn’t much avocado, and the server said they put a quarter of an avocado. It was maybe 1/8 of an avocado or less. I eat a lot of avocados at home, so I know. On the other hand, the salmon was good.
When I complained that I didn’t have much avocado, the server brought me a plate of sliced avocado. But, she wasn’t so kind about it. She said, “So, what, you want extra avocado?” Seriously, the fact that I paid her the 20% tip was really generous. She started out friendly, though not as prompt; the manager wasn’t that friendly either. They were professional enough, but seriously, I felt a bit of attitude.
When the avocado plate was brought, there were brown spots. I told my server that there were brown spots and that I was not going to eat it. I don’t eat it at home, so I don’t expect to eat it at a restaurant. The manager told me that it was just oxidation. Hmmm.
For restaurants that tout fresh ingredients, I can say, I would say they missed it a bit. If I had gone to HoneySalt next door or to Flower Child, this wouldn’t have happened since I go there often.
The calamari, I didn’t complain since I felt my quota for complaining had been met. It was so crisp that the flesh of the squid was cardboard like. We were hungry so we ate it, but didn’t finish it. I like crispiness in fried calimari, but I also think the flesh should be meatier, soft, not a piece of wood. You can see in the photo how dried out the white part is… it’s stiff.
My friend liked her pizza and wine, so that was a plus. I would have otherwise rated it lower than a 2.
The manager took off the salad. My bill, including tip, was about $95. Seriously, there are so many other places where I can have a meal for two in Vegas to come back here again. I don’t know what the draw is.
I love giving credit to restaurants for what they do if they’re great, but when a manager tells me that it’s just oxidation, I wonder about the freshness of their produce in general. They didn’t charge me for the salad. No one apologized when they brought the bill to tell me that they charged me for the salmon but not the salad.
I ordered a chopped chicken salad, pasta pesto and garlic bread. They were all awesome, just the garlic bread was a little bit salty, which the management take it off from my bill when I told her that I couldn’t eat that.
The food was off the chart. My daughter is a repeat visitor and I would definitely come back for more.
Our table ordered: Caesar salad, truffle bread, calamari, spicy rigatoni, bolognese, pesto chicken entree, Pomegranate Mules, a seasonal butter cake and the braised short rib risotto entree.
Everyone liked their food, though the short rib entree was least popular at our table.
The Caesar and Spicy rigatoni were my personal favorite. The greens were perfectly crisp, the dressing was dynamic and delicious and the fresh cracked pepper was the cherry on top to tie it all together. Wow. So good.
The pomegranate mule was slightly spicy (ginger beer), fruity and refreshing! Not too sweet and also not too strong.
There are beautiful views from every corner of the restaurant. There is a good amount of outdoor seating and there is also a bar with plenty of seating.
At any point throughout your dining experience you can make your way to the clean, spacious and well maintained restrooms as well.
Management and staff are doing an excellent job running this restaurant.
