I came to eat with my husband and we ordered a molcajete. It was really delicious, but my only suggestion is that it needed more protein. This dish comes with chicken, beef, and shrimp. “I only saw two pieces of meat.” They were more vegetables than protein. Otherwise, it was delicious.

We used to love this place. Going every week. But lately, service has been bad especially this one server. To my surprise, my friends and family that comes here had the same bad experience with this exact server. I’m not sure why he’s even still there working if he hates serving people too much. I thought it was just a bad day. Everyone gets one, but it’s every visit and we get this exact server. He is just plain rude, disrespectful and his attitude shouldn’t even be a good fit to be in the restaurant service. I ordered a Mango Margarita once, he gave me a strawberry margarita so I told him that I ordered mango then he gave me an attitude and started babbling Spanish words while walking away from our table, he did not know that I understood what he said, and he just cussed us out in Spanish. One time, my whole family went in and he got assigned as our server, he made a really bad comment in Spanish when he seen us getting sat down. Another time, he served our food, literally almost throwing it on our table, and it clanked all the plates and utensils. Almost every time he would walk out without us finishing our order and a family friend told us it happens to them all the time when he is their server, he would walk out in the middle of you talking and ordering your food. Luckily, they’re not the only Mexican restaurant in town we found our new favorite and they got the best service.

This is my 2nd time I stop by here while I am traveling thru ILLINOIS. Very fast, and hot and fresh food! Excellent!! Manager/ Dish Washer positions please wash all plates and silverware provide them with a 2nd wash, silverware was dirty. I had to request for some clean ones!

On Sunday Feb 22nd at 2:30 we attempted to have a nice meal here. But our server was impersonal. He brought me the wrong drink and didn’t get my food order correct. Not happy with my experience here. No condolences from management either. Will not be back to this Mt Verenon establishment.

The chips and salsa were great. The chips were hot and crisp, the salsa was chunky and tasty. But then …..I have never in my 57 years had Mexican food with American cheese slices on it. But there it was from one end of the plate to the other under the queso over my chili relleno and refried beans. I saw the edge of the corner of a slice immediately and one bite confirmed that it was American cheese under the queso. The chili relleno was very small, the smallest I have ever had, almost as small as a jalepeño. Usually they are stuffed with white cheese, this had shredded beef, I think. It was different, not bad, but not great. The American cheese all over kind of ruined finding the flavor.

Solid Mexican place. Huge menu can be a bit overwhelming. Fajitas were recommended. We enjoyed the Eclipse Margaritas-edible glitter? Yes please. I had the seafood molcajete. Everything was great. Large portions.

At the recommendation of a friend, we stopped here for lunch. After walking in, we recognized its split into part restaurant and part sports bar. Each section has its own area so make sure if you have a preference you request that before they seat you at your table. The place is decked out to make you feel like you are at a resort in Mexico. The menu is huge so you’ll be able to find something for everyone which can also be overwhelming. They also bring a bowl of warm chips and salsa to snack on while you wait for your food. Be mindful when you order food as the plates are huge! While I failed to get a pic of their frozen margarita, I highly recommend it. It’s so good, it’s dangerous, especially on a hot day! Would definitely visit here again if were ever in the area.
