The Roost values itself on our handmade approach to food. We hand cut our own chicken, we patty our own burgers, and our homemade sauces are made with local ingredients. Our chicken is fresh, never frozen, and our beef is from a local butcher. After another venue did NOT have the KC Chiefs game on because it was on YouTube, the Hillbilly headed to The Roost.
They had the game on, but the couldn’t get the commentary in English. I understand bars have different rules for televising sporting events. But this YouTube thing seems to have thrown a lot of people off.
But enough about the game. My Grilled Chicken Club was ok and the fries were pretty good. The service was above average. And the prices were not bad.
I’m not on W. Sunshine very often. But The Roost is a solid choice.

Their southwest chicken nachos has everything you’d want. Smothered in cheese, sour cream and jalapeños. The chips have the right thickness to get the toppings in your mouth but not always break and not too thick like bread.

Our waitress was friendly, and the staff was happy to switch the channel so we could catch our preferred game. It was fairly busy for a Sunday. For our appetizer, we had the Southwest Nachos, which were decent and thankfully not soggy. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap with Breaded Mushrooms. The wrap was average, but the Breaded Mushrooms were juicy and lightly breaded.

Waitress was very helpful in explaining what the differences in the fries were. The roost fries were really unique and very good.
The appetizer sampler was nice, and the price was very fair for the different selections.

We loved this restaurant! Perhaps the best fried mushrooms I’ve ever had. They are hand breaded and exceptional! We also tried the Mushroom Onion Swiss burger. It was great! We were lucky that we stopped by on Taco Tuesday. The deluxe tacos were only $1 each. They were incredible! We finished the night playing their Metallica pinball machine. It was a great date night!

Have to say this location has gone way down hill. Have been coming here for years and used to be allot of fun. I didnt experience that this vist.
Waitress took my order brought it too me and didnt see her again till she brought me my check. No refills, no is it OK. Would you like anything else. Have to say food was really good. Then the bathroom was atrocious. If they are cleaning it , there doing it blind. Don’t think I will be back.

Not one star because I’ve been here before and had good service & the beverages were at least cold. But seriously, if you don’t want to be open on NYE just don’t be open. Was looking forward to somewhere quieter/more off the grid atmosphere for a just a few drinks and was greeted with borderline hostility. Order came out disappointing (bottle vs draft, poor quality drinks). Left a bad taste, won’t be on our list of places to go in the near future.

I’ve only Door Dashed an order from this location. I thought their web ordering process was a bit unclear. All of their wraps can be made as sandwiches, so when it asked if I wanted “no bun” I checked the option thinking that meant it wouldn’t be a sandwich. So I was pretty surprised when my chicken bacon ranch wrap showed up as just a pile of food in the box minus the wrap lol. It was still good overall. The waffle fries were a bit chewy, but I’d eat here again.

Their fried pickles are pretty much THE BEST I’ve ever had! The beer is always cold and the service is usually top notch. The food is sometimes hit or miss; last night I had the the Italian chicken wrap and it was stellar, but I’ve also been and had mediocre wraps and burgers. Overall, I usually enjoy stopping in for a drink and quick bite to eat!
