Alimentaria Mexicana is a great spot for solid Mexican food in a lively, welcoming setting. The space itself is warm and vibrant, with a fun indoor feel and a patio that makes it perfect for relaxed lunches or casual dinners with friends.

The tacos were delicious—well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, and served with fresh toppings that didn’t overpower the flavors. Everything tasted thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed. Portions were satisfying, and the menu offers a nice balance of classic staples like tacos and tostadas, with a few extras (churros included) that make it easy to round out the meal.

Service was friendly and efficient, even with a steady crowd, and the overall vibe felt upbeat without being chaotic.

A strong choice if you’re looking for dependable, flavorful Mexican food in a comfortable, social atmosphere. Would definitely come back.

I love the outstanding food and killer margaritas at Alimentaria Mexicana—the best Mexican food in Vancouver, imho. I also recently signed up for one of their mezcal workshops. It was fantastic! Martín, the owner, is truly passionate about mezcal, and it shows: he energetically walked us through the tasting, telling us about the history of mezcal, how it’s made, and what the landscape looks like today. It was a mesmerizing journey, and along the way, we were treated to absolutely decadent tacos and churros thoughtfully paired with five different kinds of mezcal. The event was intimate, lively, and fun, and every bottle of mezcal we tried came from a unique distillery or family who included their unique personal touch.

I am now officially in love with mezcal—and I’ll definitely be signing up for more workshops in the future!

A wonderful spacious Mexican restaurant located at Granville Public Market. There is the indoor restaurant section with a full service kitchen and a prep kitchen. Then there is the covered outside patio. Also there is a smaller self serve coffee bar. For this visit we visited the coffee bar and had Mexican coffee and Mexican matcha ! All were excellent and expertly prepared! Flavours were unique, with notes of cinnamon and chocolate. Will prepare another review when we return for the restaurant and to try some of their many tequilas from their tequila bar!

Had crispy tostada with refried beans for starters. The spicy chilli oils were the star of the show. Next was the tacos: Wild live-caught halibut tortilla and Beef quesabirria. They were excellent, considering tacos are not my first choice. Topped with a nicely made Mezcalit and I’ll say this was a surprisingly great recommendation. Emilio is a superstar, his recommendations were top notch, service as such should be greatly rewarded.

The staff here work so well together and are so attentive. We sat at the bar and Sydney and Aleesha were working their butts off but working like clockwork and having fun- so friendly with everyone. It made the atmosphere so welcoming, chill, but still very professional. When staff are happy and friendly, it shows the place is well run. Washrooms very clean. Good drinks and creative food menu. Definitely recommend. I forced them to pose for a photo which they did graciously. Will be bringing friends back.

Hands down one of the best, if not the best, Mexican spots in town. The food is always on point, the drinks are awesome, the staff are lovely, and the vibe is great year round. Their dog friendly, covered, heated patio in the winter is just amazing and it’s an absolute vibe.

Emilio is simply the best. Super kind, genuinely welcoming and his knowledge of Mexican spritzes is next level. Their agave spirit collection is really solid too, with some bottles that are truly rare in Canada. If you’re into tequila and mezcal tastings, this is definitely one of the top places you need to check out.

This recommendation comes from a Mexican — and let me tell you, this place is delicious! We ordered quesabirrias and chilaquiles, but the real star of the day was the Café de Olla Latte — you absolutely have to try it! Located right in the heart of Granville Island, it’s definitely a spot you don’t want to miss.

Our visit to Alimentaria Mexicana in Vancouver was an epic experience, elevated by the vibrant atmosphere and exceptional service.

The star of the meal was the beef birria tacos, which were nothing short of phenomenal. Served in two flour tortillas, the braised beef was tender and packed with rich, Mexican-spiced flavor, complemented perfectly by the birria consommé that begged for double-dipping. The tacos had a satisfying crispness that set them apart from typical taco shop fare. Paired with the lime margaritas, which were expertly crafted and refreshing, the meal felt like a mini-vacation to Mexico.

Our server, Yamil, deserves special praise for making the experience truly memorable. His attentiveness, warmth, and knowledge of the menu added a personal touch that made us feel right at home. Yamil checked on us frequently, ensured our water was refilled, and offered great recommendations, contributing to the overall welcoming vibe of the restaurant.

The atmosphere at Alimentaria Mexicana is lively yet cozy, with vibrant decor, tiki-style umbrellas, and an open kitchen that adds to the energy.

Overall, Alimentaria Mexicana is a must-visit for anyone craving elevated Mexican cuisine in Vancouver. The birria tacos, margaritas, and Yamil’s outstanding service made this a 5-star experience. We will definitely be back!!

The atmosphere and location are nice. Service was also friendly!

The food just didn’t do it for me, at all. Got the Asada tacos which were room temp, so bland and barely had any cheese on it, despite the description promising a cheese skirt.

There’s no way I’d be full after the three tacos, which were expensive for the quality and size.

Mexican food should be bursting with flavor, which I did not find here.

We had a fantastic time at Alimentaria! All items were delicious. Our favourite was the tuna ceviche. The pork belly bites with crispy cauliflower were amazing too. Beers were cold and the churros at the end were great. Staff was really helpful and welcoming. Minor suggestions to let the guacamole a little bit more flavourful – it was a little bit blend and too dense – and tidy up the restrooms.
