Gandalf’s is an enjoyable place to eat. Who would guess that Valleyview, Ohio would have an Irish themed restaurant. They do not limit their menu to Irish fare, though. Their specials will surprise you with their creativity. I like to eat on their shady patio or porch, but you might like the pub feel of the bar. Check out their website for the live music schedule.

Food was great. Service was good. I don’t know if it was my fault or theirs but I somehow only got 1 refill. Maybe I zoned out, everything else was great. Sat on the deck since it wasn’t stupid hot like it is back home. If I’m ever in Cleveland area again I would t say no to going here.

We ate here once before and everything was greay. Went there tonight and after 5 min 6 employees walked directly past us. Not one told us I bet we will be right with you. And welcome this in. Another customer I had put in a phone order and has been waiting ten minutes and had been passed by the same six employees and finally had to grab his own food from behind the counter of the reception desk. It’s very disappointed

The closest thing to home made food you’ll get in this area. I haven’t had time to cook at home due to work and was beginning to get ill from eating out everywhere else. The food here helped me feel less bogged down.
The chicken was good, I like that they use a variety of mushrooms. I only wish there was a bit more fat and salt in the dish for a flavor boost.
The brussels sprouts were so good, I regret not getting more. I hope they add more veggies to their menu. Their fries were made with fresh potatoes which is always appreciated. The half moon mozzarella bites were larger than expected.

Haven’t had a bad experience here. Recently went for brunch for the first time, everything we had was so good. AND discovered the patio is dog friendly which I’m a big fan of.
Gandalf’s has become a staple spot for us since we’ve moved to the area.

I visited Gandalf’s this past Friday around 6:30 PM and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. Despite the restaurant not being busy, the hostess was visibly frustrated when we informed her our party would be six instead of four, even rolling her eyes at us. We were forced to sit on the patio despite a large indoor room being nearly empty. A huge thank you to the kind couple dining inside who offered to move tables so we could stay warm—the staff wouldn’t accommodate us otherwise.
The service didn’t improve once we were seated. Our food orders were mostly incorrect: my Western burger came with pulled pork despite asking for none, and another guest received the wrong sandwich entirely. Most frustratingly, one person in our party didn’t receive her food until everyone else had finished eating. We had to ask for updates twice before it finally arrived. Despite the multiple errors and the cold reception, no effort was made by the staff or management to make things right. Sadly, I won’t be returning.

My boyfriend flies in from LA about once a month and Gandalfs is always one of our stops. I tried to tell him how unique the menu is (especially the martinis) but he was still blown away. Both of us love the aesthetic and privacy. The food is absolutely amazing and the perfect comfort food for the colder seasons.
But the staff is what really keeps up coming back. Juliann was our most recent server and she dealt with our quirkiness and questions wonderfully.
We always make sure to bring cash so we can give our servers a good tip in appreciation.

The Adult Grilled Cheese with Chips was delicious, got mine minus the spinach, and my friend enjoyed her Shepard’s Pie. We’ll be back, I highly recommend eating here!

The hostess made us feel obligated to move after we had our food. We were in a nice quiet place having a nice time together when we received our food. After beginning an acceptable meal the hostess came to us and asked us to take our food, coats, belongings, etc to what turned into a noisy table, surrounded by kids to accommodate people that chose to sit in the patio cause they were cold. My husband lost part of his meal. Had to stop eating because he was busy carrying his food and drink and go back to get his coat.

Fantastic food and wonderful staff. They were very busy when we arrived for a night of live music. We were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was above and beyond. Thank you Kelsey! The food was superb. Definitely get the pretzels! The pierogies were different and delicious. Stroganoff had great flavor and pasta was not overdone. Needed salt for my personal taste 😉 Highly recommend! It is worth the trip to this adorable town.
