Stopped by for a quick lunch, having seen this spot and wanted to try it.
Jack was at the register when I came in. He was pleasant and helped me decide what to get as I had not tried anything and asked for suggestions. I decided on a small nacho and two hard shell tacos. I ordered a half and half tea to go along with my meal. Cost for the whole meal was 11.13
I didn’t hear my number being called and Trevon so was kind to bring my food to my table.
While sitting at the table in the corner, I could smell cigarette smoke and not sure where it’s coming from. Perhaps seeping through the walls in need of repair.
The food was mediocre at best. I enjoy Taco Bell much more than Taco Casa. Cool, throwback sign design though!

This place, a long time staple of Homewood, is somewhere in between Taco Bell and a classic Tex Mex restaurant. Quick, yummy, Americanized “Mexican” food. The pricing is good and the meal was filling. My #1 consisted of a taco, rice beans, chips, and beefy cheese dip.
I would definitely give it another try, but study the menu ahead of time, they’re pushy about getting you served quickly.

This is a small “chain” of restaurants that is based out of Tuscaloosa and this location is the only one not IN Tuscaloosa. Hands down, I’d pick this place over any fast food place locally. I will say, though, if someone is accustomed to Taco Bell as their only frame of reference for fast food tacos- this is for sure not that. First thing to know- it’s messy. No way around it. But that “messy” part is what makes it so good. You expect your ground beef or shredded chicken to have “some” type of flavor/moisture, but here, you order your food mild, hot, or extra hot. And the sauce of your choosing is generously poured on the meat portion of your food. You absolutely can order whatever you want and “get the sauce on the side” if you are worried you won’t like the sauciness of it. But just dive on in. I personally do not get lettuce on anything here because it gets really soggy from the sauce. I promise you aren’t missing anything by not having shredded lettuce. The tortillas are specialty made- not in house- but are not your standard tortillas. During Covid, they were unable to get the supplier they normally use, but I believe it’s been back to normal for a year or so. The crunchy tacos, burritos, casa-burger and the sopapillas are great, but hands down, one thing that no one seems to know about is the pizza. Mild beef pizza, no lettuce is…chefs kiss. If you can, eat inside or at a table, as this food is really tough to eat on the go. Oh- this matters to some- they have “the good ice” !
Add to edit months post my initial review: today is my kid’s birthday. This was the place he chose to go for his birthday dinner so we went and ate inside. I mentioned it to the man who was taking our order and he was super nice and gave my kiddo a bag of sopapillas and had written happy birthday on the bag. That was just a super nice thing to do and really unexpected. It’s the little things that matter the most and my kid was super appreciative.

Really awesome, had their version of a taco salad and some soft tacos. Staff was super friendly and the food was good, cant wait to try more things on their menu having to make a trip to restaurant depot once a week and it being right there. I do wish they had sauce packets or sauce in souffle cups so I could have added to my salad. Very impressed though.

Every single time I travel within the state of AL and will be driving anywhere within a 30 mile radius of Taco Casa, I always stop in to eat. It is always delicious, every single time, and it always makes me happier. I usually get mild crunchy tacos and hot sauce on the side, but their beans, rice, and sopapillas are delicious as well.

Some of the best fast food style tacos around. Service is usually good and prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.

Start out by saying, the food was fine. But, if you’re used to other taco Casa’s, then you might be disappointed. The menu is different, and what they put in the burritos is lacking. The soft taco was fine though.

Taco Casa is a well established restaurant rooted in Tuscaloosa but thankfully they have one location in Birmingham which we are able to visit more often! The food here is amazing and unlike anything you will find elsewhere – the sauce is addicting and so be warned! Everything on the menu is good, but we really love the tacos, beef burrito, enchilada covered in yummy cheese sauce, and the taco burger! This may not be a favorite for everyone but for those that love it, you will be hooked for life and so enjoy!
