This was my first time dining at Juliet’s and I will definitely be returning! Five of us came in after a family event and we were seated in the beautifully decorated main dining room.
I started with the Indigo Empress Martini – it was perfect, very smooth.
For our appetizers, we had the crispy honey lemon glazed brussel sprouts and calamari. The brussel sprouts were simply scrumptious! The calamari had very good flavor but was extremely tough and chewy. Could barely bite thru a ring and had to saw at it with my knife to cut it.
For my entree, I ordered the tavern burger cooked medium and a small Caesar salad as my side instead of fries.
The burger itself was nice and thick with the perfect shade of pink on the inside. The burger meat was very tender, juicy and flavorful. Delicious! I’m completely obsessed with the chimichurri aioli it came with. The Caesar salad and dressing was very good.
Brandon was our server – he was great and went above and beyond! When he brought boxes for our leftovers, I asked for a plastic ramekin to take the rest of the aïoli as well. He came back with a full ramekin of aïoli for me to take home – thank you again, Brandon!
OVERALL
– Food was great (as always is)
– pricing is competitive
– atmosphere can’t be beat
– service is good
FOOD
– we visiting Juliet’s at lunch time.
– The menu has lots of options while only being 2 pages. I like that the menu items are different enough that it makes it pretty easy to decide what you want
– my go-to is “The Butcher” which is a New York strip steak sandwich
– sides are not included with the entree, so be advised that sides are an extra
– their house made chips are a staple side
– the “truffle” version of their house chips and fries are something unique to Juliet’s
ATMOSPHERE
– I love the decor of Juliet’s. It’s got a “old meets modern” vibe and the architecture is just fun to view while dining
– the restaurant has large windows that let in lots of light
SERVICE
– today our server was Autumn, and she was great
– drinks were refilled regularly without needing to ask
– our orders were promptly taken and the server checked in regularly to make sure all was well and to ask if we needed anything
LOCATION
– being located at the northwest corner of Chicago and Clinton, makes the restaurant easy to get to
– Joliet has free 2 hour street parking, so it’s nice to not have to figure out how to pay for parking
1. Waitstaff informed us upon presenting bill that tavern charges service fee during holiday weekends. We spoke with manager to get this 18% service fee removed as it was not mentioned upon entering the tavern, nor on the erasable board at the matre D station, nor being seated, nor on the menu.
2. Our calamari plate, an appetizer, was presented half full and contained mostly rings with only 2 tentacles. We were told this is how orders of calamari are presented. We saw several other orders & those orders had more on the plates. A photo of our calamari is below
Went to meet friends before a show down street, owner was stressed over something and being not nice to people coming in ?
Servers was great once we got to table.
But the bs before killed lil of vibe
We made a 6:30pm reservation ahead of time on Google Maps. It was a dinner reservation for our wedding anniversary. Table was ready for us as soon as we arrived. We were greeted with a smile and our waitress was excellent! She was always there to take care of us.
For dinner, I had the grilled meatloaf with a side baked potato. My wife had the beef medallions. Both were excellent, but the meatloaf was incredible! So tasty! Cost for dinner and drinks was very reasonable.
Excellent experience and highly recommended. We will be back soon! Enjoy!
