I stopped by excited to finally try this place and ordered a $15 carne asada burrito. Huge mistake. When I opened it, I realized I’d basically paid for a tomato-and-onion wrap with a suggestion of meat. Nickel-sized tomato chunks, penny-sized onion pieces, barely any carne asada—and to make it worse, no cheese and no beans at all.
Whoever made this should be embarrassed. There is absolutely nothing authentic about serving a burrito this poorly constructed, especially at that price. If you’re going to charge $15 and call it carne asada, maybe actually include the meat—and the basics. Save your money. Total disappointment.

Let me start by saying this ….I LOVE SALT!! I carry salt in my car, in my purse, in my phone case….my craving for salt is totally irresponsible and unhealthy. I even add it to my fruit and usually what a normal person would consider “salty food” I’ll still add more salt to the dish. It’s a problem that I’ve recognized and now striving to improve. OK….with THAT being said…..I had the chicken tacos. It was absolutely WAYYYYY too salty!! Now if I think something is salty…that’s a serious problem. I couldn’t even finish it and had to lay my car seat back because it raised my blood pressure higher than what it already is!! Definitely had high hopes for this food, but those high hopes have now turned into high blood pressure! The beans were salty as well…..the plate of food was like a BALL of SALT!!! Take a normal plate you cooked and open a bottle of salt then dump out half of the bottle and that would be equivalent to how my food tasted. I need some milk!! (Pic of my sisters plate, she says hers wasn’t as salty but I only had the chicken)

Stopped in to pick up some burritos here for the first time after seeing this place recommended on Reddit burrito threads. They were still piping hot when I got home and we absolutely enjoyed them. Great size and great value for the price. Looking forward to trying out their tacos next time and other menu items.

This restaurant California Taco Shop was recommended to me by a local Kansas City KS resident… and wow were they right! If you’re looking for a real Mexican food lunch this is the place. My main dish was Steak Chicken and Shrimp Fajitas which was perfect with the right amount of spicy ness. It was less than $15 but the reason my acquaintance recommended this restaurant was the pickled carrots on the salsa bar! Yup they were delicious!

I moved here to Kansas City about 2 years ago and have traveled to the surrounding areas of KC and have tried Mexican food all over KC and Johnson County. This place in my opinion is the best I’ve had since I’ve been here. Definitely recommend.

OMG tried on Door Dash, EXCELLENT food, flavor, large burrito. I’m lower carb so I removed the tortilla. Lots of meat, eggs, enough cheese without overpowering it. The flavor is above par. I will definitely get this again! the photo does not do the size of the burrito justice!

This hidden gem along Kansas Ave before getting on highway. The prices are moderate to a little high, but all in all a great food experience that will have back trying entire menu. They also serve breakfast and pancakes are a $1!
