Still my favorite Taco shop in the Valley. Whenever my friend and I are in Mesa it is our must go-to spot for lunch. All the employees that work there very friendly and nice. My friend and I always try to sit at the bar, where you can directly order from the Bar Tender.

We are a creatures of habit and pretty much order the same things every time, the Street Corn, the Asada, Carnitas and Tripe Tacos. My friend loves the Picadillo (Ground Beef) Burrito. This time past, we shared an Asada Quesadilla. The Quesadilla was so good, huge and filled with meat and cheese. Excellent place to stop by and grab a bite or two or three LOL along with a few beers.

My fiancé and I popped in at 7:30 pm on a Monday and were greeted immediately by one of the bartenders. There were patrons at tables both indoors and outdoors, but plenty of seating and service was super fast! Between ordering and receiving our meals, maybe 7 minutes passed – they’re that quick! My fiancé ordered 5 tacos and I enjoyed the chicken quesadilla – we both agreed the food was fantastic and we would be back. An extra shout out to the kitchen staff, I have severe allergies to shellfish (there is shrimp on the menu) and to pumpkin (they have a seasonal pumpkin cheesecake) and the kitchen has the shrimp at a separate station and the pumpkin was kept to the dessert station. I was able to eat my meal safely and I’m very grateful to their diligence on food safety.

Best street tacos? Go to Tacos Chiwas! We went yesterday to the location on Mesa and had a great experience. The location, on Main Street, is simple and easy. Order at the counter, and almost before you can get seated, food arrives, freshly made, efficiently delivered. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. We love lengua tacos, abs these were perfect. We each ordered two, and had to go back for more. If you have ever been squeemish about eating tongue, ease into the experience by trying Tacos Chiwas lengua tacos. Of course they offer many other tacos and burritos abs dessert and drinks… it is the total packs, IMHO

My first experience with this restaurant was thru Uber app I then wanted to go in person. The Mesa location was pretty busy my food came cold but I still enjoyed it. I’ll definitely recommend both locations

We’ve eaten here several times and it always seems to be busy and quite lively. The calabacitas were excellent as were the elote. My favorite cocktail here is the Piloncillo old fashion. Excellent! So good I had two! We always park in the back and use the back entrance, just be aware of the time limits on some spaces. Plenty of parking though. Downtown Mesa is changing from the sleepy area it has always been. Now if the can get ASU to open down the street like the city officials want, it will explode with greater activity. Hope they can get it done.

We were walking down Main street and decided to stop into Taco Chiwas. It was around noon so still a little early. There were still quite a few tables available when we got there, but it filled up really quickly. We sat at the bar and I grabbed a guava Jaritos from the cooler. My partner had an ice tea. The bar tender was really sweet and very efficient running the whole front house. I ordered the 3 taco plate. I chose carne asada, al pastor, and the veggie. They were so good that I devoured 2 before taking a pic! My favorite out of the three was the veggie taco. I was pleasantly surprised at how yummy it was. I could’ve ate 10 more! We will definitely be back the next time we’re near downtown to try their margaritas.

A modern and trendy taco restaurant that stays true to the cuisine. They are open late and have an extensive bar. The tacos are a good size, reasonably priced, and come with fresh, white corn tortillas.

The deshebrada roja meat is amazing and tender, with a perfect marinade of spices. The al pastor is also one of the best we’ve had. It is tender and crumbly, with intense flavors of chili and pineapple. It goes well in any of the options (taco, burrito, gordita) and with any of the salsas because the flavor comes through so well. The lengua is slightly less good, but still succulent and fatty.

The gordita rajas con queso has a great filling. The chilis are actually spicy and balance perfectly with the strong and funky cheese. The only improvement to the dish, from personal taste, is that it would be better with a corn rather than wheat flour shell.

The horchata is great because it is not too sweet and has a unique plum or apricot flavor. It is a bit bland, and the cinnamon is subtle. However, the tamarind margarita was amazing. It is salty, sweet, and strong, and the tamarind adds more balance with extra tartness. It is always pleasant when a margarita comes with a Tajín rim.

Finally, the special carrot cake tres leches was otherworldly. The entire cake was moist yet it was twice as tall as a normal tres leches. The cinnamon, nuts, and fresh fruit complimented the milk flavor, which was also slightly tangy from the cream cheese frosting. Its almost like a cuatro leches cake. Order the seasonal desserts if they have them.
