Ramen Makotoya is a small place, but very well laid out, allowing them to accommodate quite a few guests without feeling crowded. The food was very good. The truffle ramen was delicious, full of flavor and very well balanced, and the tapioca pudding dessert was absolutely amazing.

Overall, everything was very good. The restaurant was very clean, the kitchen is visible, and you can clearly see that it is well organized and extremely clean, which always creates a lot of confidence.

The only thing I would improve is the customer service. I feel that in Vienna it is not always easy to find truly great customer service, and I believe this should be the biggest challenge for restaurants, to elevate the service level so it matches the quality of the food.

Such a nice restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. The atmosphere was modern and resembled an authentic Ramen bar. We had the cucumber salad and the chicken karaage (the yuzu mayo is a must!) as starters followed by the spicy Tantan and Torijan. Their homemade lemonades were also very good (especially the lychee-raspberry!)

I’d recommend making a reservation in advance. The restaurant has just opened but is already packed—without a reservation, you might miss out on the ramen. The broth is very flavorful, but the noodles are quite chewy and firm, which takes away from the overall taste. The gyoza is delicious, and the beef rice bowl is okay, nothing special. Overall, the staff are very friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for a place to grab something warm to beat the cold, this is another spot I’d recommend

Food option was limited so happened on that day I visited; only ramen and 1 side dish was avail.
Venue is small and cozy with bar counter and table seatings.
I suggest to book in advance and check on food options beforehand

Ramen is fusion and not authentic jap but still tastes decent 🙂 Worth going if you need your jap food craving fix !

I think this is easy to review. One of the best Ramen Experiences I’ve ever had (Even considering the experiences I had in Japan). From the food to everything else. Kind and helpful staff, wonderful ramen and karaage, nice atmosphere. If you’re in Vienna and want some ramen, you MUST come here.

Delicious food in a great area! The ramen was wonderful, and so was their ginger honey lemonade. A perfect stop after exploring the Christmas markets. It’s a small place, so I wouldn’t recommend large groups.

I had the spicy tantan ramen and it was delicious (5 stars). Very rich broth. I also enjoyed the ginger and honey spritzer.
The gyujan ramen also was good but not as much as the spicy one. more like a 4/ 4.5 stars, for me.

Overall my bf and I liked the food a lot.
The staff was also super nice.

Surprised with this one because no one really talked about them on Ramen lists

– make a reservation it gets really packed
– wife surprised by the truffle ramen. Not too much truffle which was good just a hint
– they could split a bowl into two for 2 kids to share
– I had the spicy + added spicy which had good heat bless them for the effort

Could use more noodles but I was hungry maybe just me

Soup stock in general very solid for both tonkatsu & shoyu base

UK lad serving us was great

Not much space so book or rock up early

This spot was such a vibe from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and has that perfect balance of lively but not chaotic. You can actually relax and enjoy your food. We went on a Sunday around 5:30 or 6 and were pleasantly surprised that we got seated fairly quickly despite it being busy.

The service was excellent! Everyone was attentive without hovering, and everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly. You can tell they care about the experience as much as the food.

Now for the ramen… incredible! The broth was rich and flavorful without being too salty, and the noodles had just the right amount of chew. You can tell everything is made with care. The toppings were fresh, balanced, and portioned perfectly so you get a bit of everything in each bite. I got the truffle and it was amazing!

We also tried the matcha, which was smooth and earthy with a nice sweetness, and the matcha tiramisu, which might’ve been the surprise favorite. It was light, creamy, and just the right amount of matcha flavor without being overpowering. It wasn’t too sweet either, so you don’t feel too guilty eating dessert.

Overall, this place nails both the food and the vibe. Definitely somewhere I’d come back to, whether for a cozy dinner or to show off a good local spot to friends.

I took Ramen – Gyujan| rinderknochenbrühe, 16.5€
my friend took Don Buri- Crispy Chicken Don, 14,5€

Desert- Yuzu Musukeki, 6.5€ was ok, cheesy, puddinggy, lemony, and the base was crumbly keksy, 🙂 the sauce was out of raspberry (not my fav) but was a good combination in all. 🙂

I can say that the ramen was heavenly !!! So tasty!! And the pork pieces so tender that I could bite them with my lips not teeth , eggs no comment! Everything was perfect . I recommend the place 100% for Ramen lovers!!
