My aunt wanted Mexican food on New Year’s Day. They were one of few restaurants that were opened that day. Our food was packed up in an open box that I had ordered online about an hour prior. I had to go back in the restaurant after putting the box in my car because they forgot my horchata so then I had to wait for that. The food was presented gorgeously however what I ordered had absolutely no flavor. I was impressed by their expansive salsa bar and now I know why they have so many condiments: to add to your food so it has flavor. My aunt did not say whether she enjoyed her food or not so I can’t speak for her but my shrimp fajitas and churros were completely flavorless. The only thing I tasted on my fajitas were the salsa, minced white onions, and cilantro that I got from the salsa bar. The chocolate sauce that came with the churros was Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup. The hotchata tasted just fine. I don’t understand how this happened; how does this happen? My shrimp was a little overcooked but it was smothered in bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and a red sauce. Flavorless. My refried beans were exactly how I like, soupy with melted cheese. Flavorless. This was my first time at this location and my last.

We were visiting for a night in Novato and looking for a place for dinner. A small and cozy location. The food was delicious, and portions were huge. The service was welcoming and fast. I loved their salsa, it was perfectly spicy. They were busy but that’s a great sign.

First time there. We sat on the patio and they set up some nice heaters for us, made it toasty and warm. The service was great and the food portions enormous. I’d come back.

Taqueria Mi Pueblo III: A Delicious and Authentic

For over eight years, Taqueria Mi Pueblo III has been my go-to spot for authentic Mexican cuisine. What I love about this restaurant is its dedication to traditional flavors, with many dishes staying true to their Mexican roots and avoiding the typical Mexican-American fusion style. This is especially true for their unique soups and specials.

On our recent visit, we tried the Albondigas (Mexican Meatball Soup). While I wouldn’t normally order meatball soup, this version was surprisingly delicious! The hearty broth and flavorful meatballs were incredibly satisfying.

My absolute favorite dish at Taqueria Mi Pueblo III is the Molcajete, unfortunately, they were out of it on our visit. For those unfamiliar, a Molcajete is a traditional Mexican mortar and pestle made from volcanic rock. It’s used to grind various ingredients like chilies, garlic, and tomatoes, creating rich flavors that enhance the dish.

The Molcajete dish itself is a hearty and flavorful creation featuring a variety of ingredients like beef, pork, chicken, chorizo, vegetables, and a blend of spices. It’s typically served sizzling in the Molcajete, allowing you to mix the ingredients to your liking.

The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. While we usually enjoy the outdoor seating, it was too cold on this occasion. The indoor area, though small, is comfortable, and the service is fantastic. Our server was incredibly friendly, patiently answering our questions and ensuring our special requests were met.

If you’re looking for an authentic and delicious Mexican dining experience, Taqueria Mi Pueblo III is a must-try. You won’t be disappointed!

The food is good; however, when we arrived and were seated by the waiter, we had to wait a long time for the menus. Meanwhile, the people who arrived after us were attended first and even took their order. We sat for ten minutes without receiving attention. The waiter seemed to pay more attention to others, and I think it was only because we are Latinos and the other customers were white. I was taking my mom for her birthday and planned to spend at least $100. The place wasn’t full.

I love the atmosphere at Mi Pueblo, especially out on the patio. I just ordered DoorDash from Mi Pueblo for the first time and not only did it get here is 25 minutes but it was quite literally the best loaded quesadilla I’ve ever had. Whatever you’re doing, keep it up.

f you’ve never been there, you need to fix that! This is a great family owned chain of restaurants and the downtown location is great as it has a nice outdoor seating area.

Interesting fact, it used to be a Taco Bell back in the day.

Anyhoo, back to the food. DELICIOUS! The rice and beans actually have flavor (which is a great barometer of how good a mexican place is) and not bland or too watery on the beans. My family loves the lengua and chimichanga’s. I’m more of a taco person myself but also love their burrito size/proportion. It’s not too much, not too little.

I LOVE their Al Pastor and Carne Asada. Both are flavorful and cooked well. Its easy to burn the Pastor as it often has a sweetness to it. Never happens here.

In closing, go check it out. The weather usually always cooperates here in the Northbay and you can get a slice of the Downtown Novato Vibe.

If you have kids, take them to the bookstore next door afterwards and get them a book. It’s a great spot, it’ll benefit the kids as well as the local economy ;-P

The outdoor area is nice to people watch and enjoy a meal. Chips were tasty. The macho chimichanga plate fed two of us.

I had to drop off some school supplies for Larry Mondello at the Grant Avenue School, and didn’t have a lot of time so I gave them to Mrs. Rayburn there in the office, and went Lickity Split straight to the Mi Pueblo Taqueria! I’ll be hooking up with this Fred Rutherford dude to give him some tax forms I’ve filled out for my CPA, Ward Cleaver of the firm Wallace Beaver & Associates.
Fred recommended Mi Pueblo Taqueria, and says they have the best Mexican food in Novato…And, you know what, ..he was right, my tacos were Amazing! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆

Very good authentic food. The taco shell was great, though thin enough to crack and drop stuff after biting it. The carnitas in the enchilada were not dry and had lots of flavor. Prices were on the low side of average for a restaurant of this type, and service was good even though they were busy.
