Probably the best chicharronnes in town. Yes, better than the different ones at the trade center. The rest of their food also competes with some of the best on Corpus. They are friendly and fast. I only gave 4 starts on environment because its so small and crowded inside. Then, outside, that parking lot situation is the worst. Overall, great food, great service.

Pretty good setup for drive-thru with Chick-fil-A style service and double line. The mixed was still a bit dry. Red sauce is good but not too hot. Flour tortilla are good flavor but thick and not fluffy type. Corn tortillas were good flavor. Green sauce was not really spicy at all. Overall they have the marketing and service down but flavor left me a bit wanting.

Sonny’s is Amazing. Their Barbacoa is the best I have ever had. So tender. Generous portions. One taco is two. And that’s a half pound extra meat. All Cheek not greasy so tender and tasty. Great service. Rosa is was helpful to a new client like me. Her homemade corn tortillas are super and the salsas red and green stellar. The place does a rocking takeout business I can see a lot of regulars. The specials looked great and good prices. Go if you are anywhere near Corpus Christi.

Had always wanted to try this place and it didny disappoint. The barbacoa and potaoe and egg toast were delish. The tortillas nice and soft and thin. Friendly service and good customer service as well. Would go again 100 times more.

I really love their barbacoa and chicharrones from here. It was so delicious Their breakfast tacos were fresh and delicious; however, the price for their chicharrones were a bit much. I grabbed 2 potato with egg tacos, 1 barbacoa taco and, 1/4 lb of chicharrones and that was close to 25-30 dollars. Therefore, the reason it didn’t get a full 5 star rating was the amount of money I paid for the meal. Other than this the food was fresh and delicious. I’ll be going back but to sit inside this time and see how it is.

Apparently salsa is a scarce commodity here at Sonny’s Barbacoa! Even though we bought a #1 combo (1lb of barbacoa plus tortillas which includes only one single 1 oz of salsa). Umm, really 1oz? that’s enough for maybe 2 tacos so we asked for more after we had already paid at the drive through and asked while still in the drive though before driving away. The cashier said it was a $1 for another salsa (same size) we bought it but then thought… no way, she’s mistaken and asked for the owner. A woman came and said it’s 50 cents for extra salsa and I told her that we were charged a $1 and she said yes that’s right. That doesn’t add up and she didn’t offer us anything (like a second salsa). She confirmed that yes, the combo we ordered only includes 1oz of salsa.
Ridiculous. We won’t be back. There’s plenty of other options.

The homemade corn tortillas are a must!!! They offer the option of regular corn or homemade. Regular corn tortillas will never taste the same. The barbacoa was delicious. While it is not west Philly barbacoa as in made with goat or lamb leg it is pretty good. The chicharones were great as well as the homemade flour tortilla picadillo taco. The menudo had great flavor. It was more on the softer end for the texture but it was almost closing time. I’m sure the meat for the menudo is better when it’s earlier. The service was top notch as it was friendly, helpful, and quick.
