The dishes were exquisitely crafted—rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and a true delight for the palate.
Soft background music and an extensive, thoughtfully curated wine list made our evening so enchanting that we did not want to leave.
We were welcomed with warmth and a pride of being there to share with us a most spectacular feast.
From our muse bouche, to the veloute fish soup that sent our sense of taste and texture soaring……Oeufs en Meurette….. Beef Bourguignon……..the cheese plate and onto crème brûlée …. There was a flow to our dining experience that is second to none.
We have dined before but nothing compares to Restaurant le cheval Noir in Beaune.

Although the setting could enjoy a rejuvenating treatment the restaurant is well visited by mainly French guests. For good reasons.
There are two waitresses for the entire dining room, so expect a quite expedite service. They soften up at the end of the service.
The food was really nice, no unnecessary pretentiousness (no Michelin star chaser here) just a good meal! We appreciated all the dishes, particularly the fish was lovely and we recommend it!
– Lovely wines.
– Terrace under the trees, alas bit traffic noise.
The **Eggs Meursault** were a revelation. Perfectly cooked, the eggs were creamy and rich, with the exquisite Meursault wine sauce elevating the dish to new heights. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that lingered long after the plate was cleared.
Equally impressive was the **Crunchy Escargot**. A delightful twist on a classic, the escargot was perfectly tender, encased in a crispy shell that added the perfect textural contrast. The flavors were bold yet balanced, making it a dish that’s hard to forget.
Cheval Noir is a must-visit for anyone in Beaune, whether you’re a local or a visitor. It’s a restaurant that takes pride in its ingredients and execution, delivering a dining experience that is both refined and deeply satisfying.
