At our North Augusta, SC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I have been here before. I was hoping for a better experience this time… But if have to say that Captain D’s is just not it. I’d rather go to McD’s. We dined in. Fries were cold from the start. Hush puppies were barely edible as they had a weird after-taste (old oil… IDK.) the chicken was good but the fries fry was cold and greasy. The guy behind the counter way running his butt off and was super nice. The lady behind the counter/ bussing tables needs to go. She was literally smoking right next to the front doors after taking a drive thru order out to someone. It wasn’t a huge mess inside but I wouldn’t say that it was clean either. A couple times I heard them announcing that they were out of various menu items and it was 1:30 in the middle of the day…

I picked my food up through drive thru my only complaint for the price of your meals make sure you give the correct amount of portions size for my sides the cup of green beans was barley filled it was half way empty as a pregnant woman I am very upset with this portion size I got double green beans both portions should of been in one I actually combined them in one so actually I’m missing a side

I’ve been coming here for over 13 years, and this location has always been my go-to. I even remember some of the old faces who made the experience special — I’ve actually been excited hoping to see one of them again.
That being said, I do have a concern. The newer staff and managers don’t seem to bring the same positive energy and gratitude that the “old school” Captain D’s team had. Lately, the attitudes have felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which is disappointing as a long-time customer.
There was also a day when the store was busy and I saw someone sitting in a blue or black car smoking hookah outside. As a customer, that didn’t feel professional — especially during peak hours when the team is needed inside. It was frustrating to witness.
I’m sharing this because I care. I’ve supported this location for years and would love to see it return to the level of customer service and professionalism it used to be known for.

Eat here quite often & have never been disappointed. Just came through the drive-thru, & both the young lady who took our order & the gentleman at the window were GREAT! Both seemed to actually be enjoying their jobs! Helpful, friendly & efficient. Kudos, Captain D’s!!!

The food was freshly prepared. The customer service was pleasant. The restaurant was very clean and quiet. The restroom was clean and well stocked. Our meal was very affordable and delicious!

So i waited over 30 mins in drive thru.. which ok fine I don’t really mind the wait.. but inside was not busy, 2 ppl in the front. Almost felt like the lady who took my order and payment went back in the kitchen to cook my food. It was so hot that the togo was melted. When I opened my togo box.. WHY would you give me a jacked up stuffed crab.. the shell was broken all over my food. I had to pick through my food to get it out.. well clearly I didn’t do a great job because I crunched into one which cut my gums. Really ruined my meal and I didn’t finish eating. I was sharing with my 2 year so didn’t want to chance him Crunching into crab shell.. I would have called and complained but the 2 employees there didn’t look like they would have really cared..

If you want condiments you better ask twice. If you order a baked potato with butter and sour cream, you need to ask for the butter and sour cream again at the window or you will not get it.

I haven’t eaten here in quite a while. The employees are nice. It took 25 minutes for me to receive my 2 piece fish dinner with slaw and fries… I don’t know why. The fish is still great. I love the crunchy batter. Fries were not hot or fresh… slaw looked pretty but was “meh”. It is inexpensive to eat here. I’ll try it again someday.

I was a little skeptical to order because of other reviews, but I placed a mobile order for pick up and I have to say the food was fantastic. It was fresh, hot, crispy, even after a 20 minute car ride home to eat. We ordered the family pack and it was more than enough food. The lady at the window was also very sweet.
