Reviews
We both got the lunch special, 9 in personal pizza and a side for $10. The French fries were gone too fast for photos.
At the top of our visit, our “sales consultant” (def; a “server” who is really more interested in upselling than providing a rewarding customer experience) really promoted having a beer. They have 4 on-tap that offer reduced price refills that were hawked all over the restaurant and outdoor advertisement even off-sight. I ordered, waitress returned several minutes later to say they were out of that beer. Ordered another from the remaining 3. Waitress returned again several minutes later to say they were out of that beer too. Not a good way to start off when 1/2 of your highly promoted beers are empty before noon. She did however offer to give me the opportunity to pay for a more expensive beer at a higher price. In the old days when a dining experience starts off that bumpy a manager would have dropped by the table to apologize. Some offer would have been made to put the experience back on track. No such thing here. Take it or leave it. Strike 1. Move on to food.
First to say, if you are on a minimal salt, or garlic or seasoning diet this is your place. I expected more flavor in an Italian food restaurant. Those with restrictive diets don’t often eat Italian food.
THE BAD
My modest sized-salad arrived first. Their menu emphasizes that the dressings are “homemade” so I was happy to order bleu cheese expecting a robust, crafted taste. What I got was a vinegary wash the consistency of milk that had, maybe, a scent of bleu cheese but definitely no cheese pieces nor much taste. Tip: Salad dressing should be thick enough to cling to lettuce not sit at the bottom of the bowl like soup. Strike 2.
My wife’s fettuccine presented beautifully but the sauce was very thin and lacked seasoning and therefore much taste beyond noticeable pepper. Definitely not Italian inspired. Strike 3.
THE GOOD
The Stromboli was enjoyable enough but lacked a sufficient flavor. The sausage inside was good but the ice cold tomato sauce served as a dip was a little too sweet. What they got expertly done right was the crust. It was paper thin and crispy…at least while it stayed hot. (See picture).
The brightest part of the meal was the 3-piece side of chicken wings. Good-sized & plump, they were well-cooked with a crisp, batter-less crust on the outside but, being consistent with the rest of the menu, lacked much seasoning. The ranch dressing dip was like the bleu cheese. Watery.
My overall experience here was less than good. There was disappointment at every turn. Close to $30 for lunch (with tip) the food was uninspired, somewhere between “meh” and “nahh”. We probably won’t come back. I like more flavor, for menu lead items to be actually in stock, and less feeling that the bottom line of my ticket was more the restaurant’s focus than was my enjoyment. On the other hand, I would not refuse to come here if a friend absolutely insisted but would silently question their food choices. I’d also be sure that I picked our next restaurant.
This was my second time visiting Parry’s Pizza in Webster. The place is very clean, the service is friendly, and it’s a really nice spot to relax with family.
I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Calzone, and for me personally, it was a little too bready and not as flavorful as I hoped. But the food my family ordered was delicious — they really enjoyed their meals.
I’ve also visited the Parry’s location in San Antonio, and in my opinion, that location has a little more flavor overall. Webster is still a good place to eat, just not quite as flavorful as SA for the specific item I chose.
Still, great service, clean restaurant, and worth visiting. I’d go again.
Let’s start with the good news: the food at Parry’s Pizza actually slaps. The pizza is delicious, the menu is different from everything else around, and for a brief moment you think, “Wow… maybe this place is a hidden gem.”
And then reality taps you on the shoulder or should I say, the bartender does to remind you that you have entered a completely different dimension.
Service (a.k.a. The Parry’s Hunger Games)
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to inconvenience someone simply by existing, please, pull up a barstool at Parry’s.
The bartenders have mastered the art of looking at you like you just asked them to donate a kidney. You don’t order a drink here you apologize for wanting one. The vibe is so hostile it feels like the staff is silently communicating, “I survived another day here, can’t you see I’m suffering?”
Honestly, based on the energy radiating off the employees, the work environment must be rough. I’ve felt better vibes standing in line at the DMV.
Cleanliness… or Whatever This Is
Now, let’s talk about the wildlife exhibit they’ve got going on. I’m pretty sure I saw more species here than on my last trip to the zoo. Fruit flies? Absolutely. Roaches? Oh, they’re thriving. I half-expected someone from National Geographic to pop out and narrate my dinner.
And then there’s the tap beer, which comes seasoned with floating white debris.
Could be beer stones (calcium oxalate deposits).
Could be yeast.
Could be mold.
Could be the souls of past customers trying to warn me.
Who knows?
What I do know is that those deposits happen when nobody properly cleans the tap system you know, the thing that affects how the beer tastes, smells, and shouldn’t have visible flakes drifting around like a snow globe.
Overall
Parry’s is the perfect place if you want:
✔ Great pizza
✔ The bar staff to glare at you like you’re trespassing
✔ A surprise appearance from the insect kingdom
✔ A science experiment in your beer
It’s a shame, really. The food is genuinely great. But the rest?
Let’s just say Parry’s is the only restaurant where I’ve ever thought, “This pizza is good… and I hope I live to tell the tale.
The kitchen never disappoints: the appetizers and pizzas are always fresh and flavorful, and the beer selection and margaritas are exceptional. Thanks to Susana and the consistently high quality all around, each experience here feels special.
