This restaurant was amazing! It was a vibe, from the music, the staff, and the food. Emily and Rachel were our servers and they offered great food and drink selections! The roasted and fried oysters were magnificent (some of the best I’ve had in the city). My husband and I will be back again for another date night adventure!

I dined at this restaurant on Valentine’s Day. This was my first time in Richmond and I can say the experience at this restaurant was a great contributor to a wonderful trip.
The restaurant itself had so many different elements that somehow all worked together. From the nature decorations, lighting and music it was absolutely perfect.

We had an excellent meal at Shagbark! We tried the fried green tomatoes, crab cake, duck, pork chop, and sticky toffee pudding. All were excellent! My partner didn’t think he liked duck until he tried Shagbark’s duck. The service and ambiance were also great.

The best meal I’ve had a a restaurant for some time. Everything was as it should be. That is an incredibly high bar for any restaurant. Cocktails were delicious and offered something different. The diver scallops were presented in a different way, and done to perfection. The wine list was deep, with something for everyone. Our selection was a lovely complement to a steak with lobster risotto. That dish required a moment of silence to appreciate the flavors doing a sublime dance in our mouths. Dessert, Moscato and coffee to finish. One bobble, with the wrong glass, was quickly corrected. Our server was an adorable young man who did everything to make our evening special. While we didn’t order it this time, do not overlook the pork chop.

I recently went to shagbark and it was delicious! Everything on the menu sounded delicious but I ended up going with the duck and I have zero regrets doing so! The staff was friendly as always and the drinks were top notch! It’s the perfect spot for a more elevated night out!

Did a quick Google search for dinner tonight and I’m so glad this place was one of the options! Everything was incredible. From the hostess to our server Javon, everyone was so hospitable. Our appetizers (we ordered three ) were on point as well as the entees and desert. We will be back for sure! Perfect for a date night.

Our new favorite upscale restaurant in Richmond. Impeccable service, probably the best we’ve ever had. Every meal and drink was a winner. Stars of the show were our delicious bread, pork belly appetizer, and the sticky toffee pudding is something we’ll be coming back for. Pork chop and strip loin (special) were great as well. Cannot stress how great the service was. I could keep going but just go and experience it yourself!

We always enjoy our meals at Shagbark. One of the best restaurants in Richmond. The service is great, and they offer an extended wine list along with a bar full of flavorful cocktails. The food is consistently delicious and very well prepared.
This time we ordered the salmon, shrimp pasta, beet salad, and squash blossoms — everything was excellent.
One suggestion: consider adding a beef dish. They have a great range of proteins, but a steak with the chef’s twist would be a fantastic addition.
Parking is easy, and the location is convenient with quick access to several highways and Richmond hotspots. Highly recommend.

First time visiting this place. Party of five to include my 3yr old and ALL of the staff were so friendly and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a high hair and a small kids menu. Ambiance was nice throughout however we were sat right under an AC vent and we were chilly. Our server was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We had the charcuterie board which was plentiful and the pork belly melted in your mouth! Second picture is the chicken dish which was so tender and flavorful. The risotto is some of the best I’ve had. Others in my party raved about the duck and flounder. Sticky toffee pudding with bourbon gelato was a perfect ending. We will definitely be back!

One of the best dining experiences we have had in Richmond! From the kind service, to the fun, chic atmosphere, and the decadent, mouth watering food…..we couldn’t have asked for a better birthday dinner! Do yourself a favor and order the fried green tomatoes, short ribs, and halibut. Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Every dish was exploding with flavor. Pretty sure you could order any of their dishes and be absolutely satisfied! Can’t wait to come back!
