Bought food today, sat down with the family to eat. As we plated the food, it not only smelled terrible but very visible- is mold growing on the shrimp and the chicken stank! I came to dine in at Hibiscus Restaurant and bar on January 31, 2026 we were so hungry hoping to enjoy a delicious meal. We order a chicken fried rice and a roast pork Chow main. When the food arrived, I could tell it wasn’t going to be tasty because of the rice it was white looking no kind of color, One bit It was disgusting it had no kind of taste I had to ask for extra sauce to put on top it didn’t make much of a difference, Until we put a lot of pepper on it, only then we were able to eat it. It’s like I was preparing my owned fried rice here. I brought someone here to eat, and I was embarrassed.The chow main was OK. Wasn’t much Roast pork in side. The chef has to go you guys are getting bad reviews because of the chefs they doesn’t know how to cook tasty food.

We came to the restaurant on a calm Saturday afternoon where there were only a few other parties here. The food was very good and the portions are huge. There’s a lot going on – from ringing phones, to loud music, etc. but it’s still a great spot. Would definitely come back for a drink and some small bites!

12/29/2025 Took my Family of 4 to Hibiscus in Queens Village to experience Authentic West Indian food.. Food is good and Tasty but the Waiter:Kimberly Implemented 18% gratuity charge on my bill for a Party of 4. When question she replied that’s coming from the Boss .To me that seems like Stealing from Customers and not letting the Customer give what is deserved for Hospitality. (Party of 6 or more is automatically charge for service).. My normal gesture for tipping is Double the Taxes and sometimes add more around Holidays or Special events.. It’s Still a nice place to eat despite the feeling of being Robbed by the Waiter Kimberly. The Owner: Dave should be aware of his Employee Habit.

I have been a loyal customer buying food here for years. Lately, the food has been very terrible and disgusting with no taste. Just the looks alone is a big turn-off . The chicken is fresh, not even cooked properly, and it’s supposed to be Chinese style chicken on the top . They just laid a big peace of leg and thigh with no presentation class, neither tasted like what are we spending our money on, it’s ridiculous .

Ordered on door dash on Friday. I Ordered chicken fried rice and chicken lowmein. The food is very fresh. Chicken is very soft as well. The portions were huge one food can easily be shared by 4 person.

This review is based on my personal experience,
on January 27, 2023, I bought a house special and chicken Fried Rice. I’ve been eating Hibiscus for years but recently the food was a disaster and today was the breaking point, there was little to no chicken and the chicken was very dry/stale, we could barely eat the food. After some research and reading other 1-star reviews, it came to my attention that this establishment has 9 violations from the New York State Health Department issued on January 25, 2023, only 2 days ago. This restaurant needs to be shut down with all these violations or another health check because the food that is being served isn’t healthy and definitely not sanitary. This business will serve anything to the West Indian community and people will buy it because they feel like they don’t have a choice but yes they do. Don’t support a business like this that takes advantage of their people and serves garbage for food.

Had the Beef Cookup Rice and Hot wings and it was disappointing! It was very spicy! Never have I HAD SPICY cookup ! The beef was dry and Tasteless ! The hotwings were dry and lacked taste also ! The pepper they put in the cook up rice should have went in the hot wings !
