It was my first time going, a lot of people post this place is good so we gave it a chance and I regret it a little bit to be honest. Don’t fell for the “fried avocado” it is a cheese ball with not even half of a avocado inside, my dad order a plate where the shrimps where supposed to be on a sauce and it was super sweet.
Also make sure when you ask for adds ons on the plates repeat it because they instead replaced my chicken quesadillas for shrimp and they wanted to charge me for their mistake, I ask the waitress if she could fix the ticket (like she said she was going to) and when she ask the lady in charge (I’m guessing is the manager) she just check me out up and down and give me ugly looks after that.

DonJanito’s beef fajitas were amazing! This is worth the drive and the 30 minutes wait on a Wednesday!!!! A Wednesday! Why? Meat was tender and mushroom cilantro sauce was dreamy. You gotta come find this place. Other dish ordered chicken enchiladas- classic but not nearly as good as Don Janito

The food wasn’t very good. Complimentary chips and salsa were good. There were 2 of us . We ordered chicken fajita taco plate and I wasn’t very hungry so I ordered 3 crispy tacos al la carte. The fajitas looked either boiled or pan cooked. Nothing like a traditional fajita and my crispy tacos were not very flavory. All I could taste was Black pepper. The taco shells tasted like box shells from a grocery store but that’s not even the problem. Look…hear me out….the taco plate with 3 tacos is 12.99 with beans & rice. We paid 14.95 for JUST taco’s. How the hell does that make sense. Less food…more cost. Let’s just say that we won’t be back. That’s just ridiculous.

I’m from San Antonio, so I have high standards when it comes to Mexican food, and I honestly did not expect to find such an amazing Mexican restaurant here. The beef fajitas were incredibly tender and full of flavor, the rice and charro beans were absolutely on point, and the queso was so good we couldn’t stop eating it. On top of the great food, the owner was incredibly kind, very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I highly recommend!!

Waited 30 minutes for my crispy taco plate. Took a bite of the refried beans and they were cold. Everything was cold. Lost my appetite after that. Waitress never checked on me. I had to wave her down about my cold food. No refills on chips or salsa. Wasn’t a good dine in experience at all. Definitely won’t be back.

Los Comales is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Rockport hands down. We have been coming down to visit for 5 years now and cannot leave without dining here at least once. The green sauce is EVERYTHING. We literally brought home a 32oz container of it our first year down here. The prickly pear margarita is also a must-try.

Los Comales in Rockport say they are pet friendly to “service dogs”… but apparently only if they are on a leash and stay on the floor. I had my 2 1/2 pound Yorkie in a sling on my person like a baby would be, after our group of 7 placed our food and drink orders, I was approached by staff because someone complained from another table, more than 6’ away, that they were bothered by my dog. My dog was barely noticeable with only her tiny head peaking out. Staff said that I had the dog on the table and “it was not sanitary”. In a sling/pouch, my dog never you the table. Way too many people worrying about other people’s business. ⭐️ only because I have to so I can post this.

The seafood enchiladas were delicious, but for me personally, the green sauce with chips was the highlight. Best tasting green sauce EVER! Pro tip: you can buy it to take home. Be certain you do. I took some back to TN with me. It’s that delicious.

The best Mexican food, margaritas and waitstaff in town!
The restaurant was slammed when we got there last evening, but our waitress, thoroughly exhausted, I’m sure, didn’t miss a beat…we were greeted with a smile…our meals came out as timely as could be expected given the sheer volume of patrons at that time…and she took the time to check on us periodically to be sure all our needs were met…we couldn’t have asked for better service!

Had an incredible meal at this spot! I ordered the Fajita Don Juanito, which came sizzling hot and loaded with perfectly grilled beef fajitas, then topped with a rich cilantro mushroom poblano cream sauce — absolutely packed with flavor and seriously next-level. My Dad had the Seafood Enchiladas, and they were just as impressive. Smothered in a creamy, savory sauce and filled with tender seafood, it was a hit from the first bite.
Everything came out hot, fresh, and generously portioned. The rice, beans, and fresh pico on the side tied everything together beautifully. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere made it even better. Highly recommend if you’re craving flavorful Tex-Mex with a little extra flair!
