Social Profile:

It all started in the kitchen in 1966. Mama Avila brought the delicious recipes from Guanajuato, Mexico that had been in her family for generations. Over the years, Avila’s El Ranchito has grown to 13 locations in Los Angeles and Orange County. Each restaurant is under the personal care of a family member, guaranteeing the reputation the family has earned for treating our customers like part of the family. The Orange location is famous for its historic building, once stunning church with the restaurant still has the original hardwood floors, with stained glass windows and high ceilings. The Cantina is a great spot for watching your favorite sports team while enjoying Happy Hour or Taco Tuesday specials.

Highly recommended! Great atmosphere, big portions, delicious food and flavours. Not 100% authentic but great California style Mexican.

This location is absolutely stunning, set in an old church with high ceilings that add to its charm. I’ve been to several Avila’s El Ranchito locations, and the food is consistently fantastic every time.

I enjoyed a refreshing summer margarita that went down much too easy! I had the combination platter of 1 crispy chicken taco and 1 chicken tamale served with rice and beans. Delicious and huge! The only minor drawback was that our server, while super sweet, checked on us a bit too frequently. It felt like we were being rushed, even though I know she didn’t mean to. A little more awareness of the pace would have made the experience perfect. Still the staff was all super friendly and willing to help with anything!

Overall, this place is definitely worth a stop! The beautiful building, amazing food, and helpful team create a wonderful dining experience on a beautiful summer night!

I have been coming here for over 30 years and I must stop in any time I am in CA. My favorite is Avila’s Chicken Soup, second chicken tacos! With home made corn tortillas. Everything in the menu is wonderful@

Joanna and all the others who served us were professional, welcoming and took good care of us, their kindness and attention truly stood out, The food was excellent, full of flavor and perfectly prepared, it’s rare to find both great service and great food in one place but this restaurant delivered both beautifully, we’ll definitely be coming back! Thank you

We’ve eaten here before and was given great customer service. We ate here on a Saturday evening. All the tables were full and it was pretty noisy.

The place is really pretty inside– nice decorations.

The food was good, but I personally felt it was highly priced for the portions that we received. For example, a bowl of chicken soup was $17. It was enough to fill 3 small cups to share, but it’s enough for a really hungry person. I do have to say their broth was really good. I got a flauta plate for $18. The flauta wasn’t as big and the plate was filled with rice and beans.

We came here to celebrate a birthday and they brought out fried icecream and sang for our friend. Very nice experience.

As for the parking, it’s a little hard to find parking. They have a small parking behind them and a larger parking a few yards away. If you come here on a Saturday evening, you have to expect and have patience to find parking. This place is near the circle of Orange, so this area alone is busy.

Good day! Everyone
This was my first time at the Orange El ranchito location. I been to many other locations over the years. I believe our server’s name was Humberto hopefully I didn’t get the name wrong, but he was kind and welcoming and the food was great.

I’ve been to several El ranchito locations over the years and by far this is my favorite location. I like this location because it feels more homely here. Maybe it’s just because of the area that’s just the way Old Town orange is. We’ll be coming back in the future.

This location is more in a residential area so there is plenty of residential parking if you come at the right time. We came in late afternoon we had no problem finding parking. .So if you’re going to come out on a weeknight or weekend night my suggestion is get down there early so you’ll have a place to park. Great atmosphere and employees are very welcoming. My friend enjoyed the location and she wants to come back also in the future. Thanks for a great time.

Excellent place to relax, eat some great food and enjoy the night air.

Also, if your guilty pleasure involves historical places and interesting stories, you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

Teaser: The church was built in 1893 and modified in 1912 in a Queen Anne—Carpenter Gothic style. The building stopped operating as a church in 1992.[2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The first couple of times here were great, but the last time they put our group in a back room, everyone who ate there had stomach issues that night and the next day and my credit card was charged twice (our groups meal and someone else’s). This has gone from a go-to spot when I am in the area, to a skip for the next time.
