Great food the sausages and chicken with the green sauce was amazing. Prices are very affordable as well. One thing to note is the restaurant is very small (seats 6-8 people inside) and people often call ahead of time to book. If you arrive without a booking you could face long waits. The owner is lovely and often does everything herself so please give her some patience.

This is very tiny restaurant with great service. We did a walk in so there’s no seating for us and we had to do take out instead. While we were waiting for our order, I’ve seen that the servers and the chef were very friendly and super nice. The food was really good and the portion size was big. Cash only restaurant. Definitely will return next time and will recommend to friends and family.

Worth the wait! Be prepared for a long line up for takeout, or call ahead and make reservations. I ordered the Mista 1 (half chicken, four ribs, one sausage) with a side of spicy rice small size. More than enough food for one person. I took mine to go and I couldn’t finish it! This place is very busy so be prepared to wait and don’t mind the service – it’s a small restaurant with a charcoal grill, 2 tables inside and one outside – it is all worth it! The chef can be a bit strong with how she wants her restaurant to function but keep in mind it is a very small space. They all just want to make sure that the people who are being served inside, who have made reservations, are being taken care of. One of the best meals I’ve had in Lisbon!

Fantastic experience with a super friendly small staff. The food was just fantastic and better than most I had in Lisbon, especially if you’re bored of beef or really heavy meals.

Its very small so quite intense and the staff will chat to you, ask you questions and generally be interested in you – it’s wonderful but maybe not everyones vibe

Favorite place to eat in the world!

The owner warned me that this is not a restaurant but a kitchen.

She cooks for you like you are in her home – ensuring that you are eating things the right way and enjoying them.

It seems the only poor reviews she gets is due to limited hours or running out of food (there’s always a line out of the door). Again it is important to note that this is not a typical restaurant. If you are fortunate enough to sit in the restaurant and experience this chefs passion for her cooking, you will understand.

Despite the fantastic meal and unique experience, the cost is arguably TOO low. She would not accept more money or even a tip.

This is a very special restaurant owned by a very special individual.

What a nice place to dinner. We arrived early around 5:15pm. Sonia was working already at the grill working to start service at 6pm. We introduce ourself and she asked how many people in our party. We answered we are two. She said that is ok we have room for two more at 6pm considering inside can seat 6 people at the same time. That was a relief. Usually people wait between 1 to 1 1/2 hours to get seat it. Time past and more guests start to arrive. At 6pm she came outside and said we’re welcome in. Service began. We chose as a side dishes Broccoli, tomatoes salad, mash potatoes, potatoes with chestnut and pancakes. For main dish we pick Meal #2 comes with ribs, half of grill chicken and 3 sausages and extra order of Blood sausage. Everything was spectacular. Flavors were on point. Meats were cooks to perfection. Tender and juice. Sonia is an excellent host. Sonia and her team take care of the minimal detail to make your experience unforgettable.

Got to love Frangasqueira Nacional!

It’s a very small spot in the heart of Lisbon with some of the best food and vibes you’ll find anywhere in Portugal.
Sonya (the chef and owner) is the sweetest, most hard-working person, who pours her heart into this restaurant. Despite being busy all the time, she still manages to run the place beautifully.

The food is amazing, fresh, and incredibly cheap! We ordered a whole chicken, roasted potatoes with bacon, mashed potatoes, rice with veggies, salads, and a few other dishes—and everything was SO GOOD!

Yes, the place is very busy, with only two tables (one for 2 people and one for 4–6). That means people without reservations usually end up waiting outside for quite a while to be seated. I’d recommend going there in person to make a reservation (since they might be too busy to answer the phone), or just walk in and order take-away.

100% recommend it!
And just a tip… don’t be impatient or expect royal treatment when you go. Understand that they’re working at full capacity from the moment they open—so relax, enjoy the vibe, the smell of the grill, and the music, and you’ll be just fine!

What a vibe.

First off, addressing other one star reviews, we didn’t experience any discrimination at all.

The owner was welcoming and talking to all the guests. The only reason I can explain it to others is that her communication is direct, much like Italy or any other European country. It is to be expected and if you expect to have a servant… then go to fine dining. There was a point where we wanted more chicken and the chef asked if we were sure. Perhaps it would have been offensive to these people giving low reviews but to me it really seemed like she was being caring more than condescending.

There were points where I thought she was being a little tough on her staff. I didnt see any scolding but there were points where she was telling them they were doing tasks slow. The wait staff were incredibly nice and I can tell they are good people.

As for the food, hands down the best frango and grilled meats we had in Lisbon by far. Nothing even comes close, and we’ve been to 4 chicken shops at this point. That and it was incredibly cheap compared to other restaurants. We only paid 27 Euro to feed two people. Well worth the money we spent considering the wine and side dishes with meats.

Probably the best meal I have ever eaten in my life. I went with 2 others and they agreed. We waited 1.5 hours for a table and we would 100% do it again. Every dish was a 10/10, cash only

We were lucky enough to find an Airbnb just around the corner from this classic Portuguese chicken spot in Lisbon, and after seeing the reviews we had to give it a try. So glad we did!

It’s a small, adorable place run by three amazing women who manage the whole operation seamlessly. You can really feel the care and pride they put into everything.

The food was outstanding. Of course the BBQ chicken was incredible, but the sausage and ribs were just as good. What really surprised us were the sides – all so fresh and packed with flavour. We ate out a lot while in Lisbon and honestly this was one of the best meals we had, and great value for the price.

One thing to note: it’s a tiny place with only 6 seats (three tables of two). We were lucky to be staying around the corner so we took ours home to eat. You can call ahead and book if you want to sit in.

Highly recommend!
