Relaxed, diner-style joint with a patio offering inventive pizzas & a vast selection of beer.

They made us “a pizza we couldn’t refuse”. It was a bit pricey, but nothing that the G-men could get us for evasion. The setup of ordering at the counter and no waiters was fine with us; no rush, no hassles. Note: for those complaining about this gimmick, if you need something, ASK AT THE COUNTER!

Excellent pizza. Perfect dough with good fermentation and chew. You can tell they take pride in the quality of ingredients. Highly recommend

Im working out of town so I decided to order in at the motel. I am tired of sub par over priced food. I should have just stuck with a known chain pizza restaurant. My salad was so hot and wilted I threw that right in the trash. They got the flavor of my wings wrong but I still ate them as I was hungry from working all day. And the pizza wells ive had wat better frozen. So for $60 for one person to eat crap food sucks. I would waste my money or time with this place.

Was staying in West Jefferson with family. Daughter and son-in-law said Capone’s was their favorite pizza place. They ordered take out and then drove from West Jefferson to Boone to pick it up, approximately 50 mile round trip. When he returned to the cabin and opened the pizza box we were shocked. We had an extra large burnt pizza. The crust was black and pepperoni was crispy. None of the other toppings were recognizable. We each ate a small slice and had to throw away the rest of the pizza. They said this was the last time they would order from Capone’s. When I go with them and want pizza I’ll go to Little Caesars which is five minutes from their cabin, not 1 hour.

The food LOOKED decent, as my photos show, but we were highly disappointed.
We ordered the “garlic” knots which ended up being just underbaked dough with some kind of watery butter poured over them. No garlic flavor. Also ordered a pepperoni calzone and manicotti. The cheese in both was very chewy mozerella, likely frozen, and the pasta was undercooked. There was almost no flavor to anything. The marinara dipping sauce was decent, but for an Italian place, it was an insult to Italian cuisine. Their whole service model was unusual, and even though our meal was comped by the manager, she showed zero interest in why we were not happy with our meal. That proved to me that this place has no interest in improving or at least proving anything more than tasteless, cheap food for people with low expectations.

This was a pick-up order, and my husband said the service to pick up was horrendous. It seemed as though he was bothering the employee by being there.
The calzone looked so good. But looks can be deceiving. I ordered “fresh” spinach and “fresh” garlic. Barely tasted a piece of garlic until I got to the center… and there was, at most, 2 pieces. This was an extra charge, so I expected more. The spinach was lacking as well. Very few pieces to be found.
The absolute worst part was when I dipped a piece into the sauce, and it was ice-cold marinara. Like they had just taken it out of an icebox.
I’m not sure if this was just a bad day or what… but hoping they improve all around.

Maybe it was what I ordered, but the deep dish lunch special was awful. Barely cooked and a cornmeal crust. Just not pizza tasting as all. This was my first time there and I was really hoping to like it. Unfortunately, I won’t be back.

Something odd about this place. On a Friday evening in a college town, there were exactly four tables occupied. We were shown to a booth, given menus, and then informed that we would have to walk back to the restaurant entrance to place our order. There was a bar but no bartender. One of the servers poured me a beer from a very limited list which included no ciders, a single seltzer, and a choice of two wines, red or white. In fairness, the pizza itself was quite good. But the atmosphere was dead, and not having our order taken by a server at our table was a bit weird.

We’ve tried Capone’s several times- really hoping things would improve. Unfortunately, they still do not have servers, so upon entering the restaurant, you are given a menu then told to come back & order at the counter? Yet the entire dining room is open for seating..
Someone does bring your food to the table, but service ends there. Drinks, silverware, etc are self-serve. So why is it they ask if you want to leave a tip? You pay at the counter when you leave, and the manager at the counter asks if you want to leave a tip, for the cook or whomever? Seriously? Pay your workers more or something? Even for take-out pizzas, they’ll ask if you want to leave a tip?
The salad bar IS open, and is $10 for a larger plate, $5 for a small plate. One time we were told it was $10 for the salad bar, and any return trips would be counted as an additional salad. (?)
Food is okay- large pizza runs around $24 I think, and the XL is $29 (excluding any additional toppings)..
The last time we went, the music was -uggh- NOT over-40 friendly.
Atmosphere COULD be cozy, but it isn’t. Just don’t understand the whole concept now- prior to COVID- they did have servers and were busier. Now, we are usually one of maybe 3 tables inside.
There’s also a bar, but no clue if it’s open anymore? No one is ever monitoring it.
Such an overall bummer.

Surprisingly good pizza, prices very reasonable especially for the area. They have a salad bar, never see those anymore. We had three different pizzas and they were all good. I especially loved the white pizza with extra garlic, it was delicious. Stuffed all four of us for under $40!
