My son and I were driving through College Station for business and found ourselves in the mood for a good country-fried steak. I was told The Cotton Patch was a solid choice—and it absolutely did not disappoint.
The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, and the service was outstanding, especially considering they were short-handed. Our server went above and beyond; at one point, I even saw them walk an elderly woman out to her car and help her with her leftovers. That kind of kindness says a lot about a place.
The portions aren’t oversized, but they’re incredibly tasty and satisfying—we cleaned our plates without hesitation. It was exactly what we were craving. I’ve been to quite a few country-style restaurants, and honestly, this was the best I’ve had in several years.
The only downside? They don’t have a location in Austin.
If you’re in College Station and hungry, I definitely recommend stopping by The Cotton Patch. You won’t leave disappointed.

Everything here is excellent – food, service, atmosphere. Starting with the appetizer, the bread rolls were better than the ones at Texas Roadhouse. The meals were good too, each dish was quality. The desert was also top notch. For the prices you pay, this is the best value in class of these types of restaurants. Also, I want to add, they accidentally brought us the wrong dish but quickly realized their mistake and gave us our correct order, then gave us the extra dish free. Really cool of them to do that.

I should have known that going here was a terrible decision when I pulled up for an early dinner order after an 11 am Gameday and there were only 5 cars in the parking lot. To say it was a disappointing experience is an understatement. It started off with messing up my order. Luckily, I checked it before I left and they fixed it. I get home and look at the side of fruit…see attached photo. I’m not sure if that’s even a single strawberry. My kid’s pasta had a horrible sour, almost chemical taste. It was bad, real bad. Chicken breast had skin on it like a rotisserie chicken. This will be our last time here. The fact that I have to watch my daughter the rest of the night since she ate a couple of those noodles will not be forgotten.

I took our Veterans ministry out on our bi-annual field trip and we choose to stop here to have lunch. I have never (yes never) received such amazing service. We brought 30 Veterans, mostly Vietnam era, there and as soon as we walked in we were greeted with such amazing hospitality as if they see us every week. They had our table prepared for us before we arrived. The GM, Charity, has to be the most amazing person to work with! Her and all the wait staff and the kitchen did such an amazing job. They took our drink orders and food orders promptly and everything was delivered with amazing service and smiling faces! The biggest surprise to me was that every other table in the restaurant wasn’t affected by us flooding the place. Every other table received the same service as we did. Honestly I live 50 months away but would honesty drive here once a week if I could because we all had such a great experience. To a lot of these Vets from the Vietnam era received the treatment they should have had when they originally came home. It was awesome to see them enjoy a day especially since what all they sacrificed for us to enjoy the freedoms we have today! God bless.

First time coming here and I’m going to tell you it was a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and very affordable. I had a chicken fried steak and very tender, my wife had a turkey club sandwich very delicious and my grandson had a triple cheeseburger and he hasn’t said one word since he stuck it in his mouth. Great place to bring the family.

If you’re looking for a hearty meal at a great price, you can’t beat the daily $9.99 specials here. Monday’s chicken fried steak is hands-down the best deal in town… the portion is huge, the steak is crispy on the outside and tender inside, and it always hits the spot. The rolls come out hot and fresh, perfect for soaking up the gravy. I do miss the cornbread, but the food is consistently delicious and the value is unbeatable. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re craving classic comfort food.

We truly cannot say enough wonderful things about our incredible waitress, Natalie, and the outstanding manager, Shara. From the moment we arrived, their warmth, kindness, and genuine spirits stood out in the most beautiful way. They are hands-down two of the sweetest, most caring, and most outgoing people we’ve ever encountered during our visits to Cotton Patch. Their positive energy, professionalism, and heartfelt hospitality made our experience unforgettable. Absolute gems—simply the best of the best!

This was the best chicken fried steak we have ever had. The salad was excellent with yellow peppers. Service faster than fast food places. We were very impressed. The fact the shot of the plates empty proves it was wonderful and well eaten

Ehhh. It was alright. The one in Bryan has never let me down. The CS location was convenient today so I called it in and picked it up. Went to visit my mom and enjoy our $45 Cobb salads… they were not very good. We both were disappointed. Our salads lacked serious prep time. The employee that made it must lack the skills or drive to prepare the signature Cobb salad.
When someone orders food they expect it to be decent and not taste or look any different than it has in the past.
I paid for a service but the service was not served. Seriously need laws that protect people like me from getting hustled out of money.
The $45 may as well have been stolen from me.
