Great meal served in a unique setting. Fully done up Bavarian style including the serving staff in classic dress from the good old gausthaus days. Large selection of schnitzel steaks and other dishes. We enjoyed our meals of schnitzel with escargot and shrimp to start. Left stuffed and sleepy after the big dinner.
My wife loves her spatzel, their Spatzel can be ordered crispy, which is just fried a bit more when its prepared and not so soggy, she enjoyed the “crispy spatzel”

Absolutely worth the stop! A lovely authentic european feeling restaurant, complete with hand painted murals and attentive staff. We had a delicious meal, with soup, schnitzel, and cake for dessert. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a chance to slow down and enjoy dinner with your loved ones.

(Note that they do have a dress code so shorts and tank tops would be frowned upon – but jeans and a t-shirt is fine).

The atmosphere here is authentic! The food was great and the service top notch! You feel like you’re in another country right down to the Bavarian style outfits the waitresses wore!

We started with the escargot! It was perfect! Just what you’d expect for an escargot appetizer! For dinner, we had the schnitzel champignon and the bratwurst for dinner. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked, and very tender. The bratwurst was tasty and moist. I switched the Princess Potatoes (which are basically mashed) for the roasted (recommend if ur not a fan of mashed). We also had the cheesecake and Black Forest Cake for dessert. The cheesecake was on point, not stellar but good. The Black Forest Cake however was stellar! The cherries were only on one layer and not overpowering which I find a lot of BF cakes do! Jacquelyn was our waitress and she was perfect! Highly recommend this restaurant!

First time we where here and we will be back again.
I had the Cordon blue schnitzel – really good, as also the red cabbage and their special potatoes with extra sauce Bernaise which was ok.
I had it many times before in Germany and it had a different/better flavor there. I know it’s hard to make.
She had the Oscar schnitzel with Jaeger sauce which was very good.
I had a German Dunkel beer which also vmwas very good, if you like dark beer.
There was some kind of music playing, but you barely could here it.
It would be nice if they would play some German/Austrian music.
The place is very nicely decorated!!

We had our first visit to Black Forest. The building has been designed to showcase their cuisine perfectly. Our server was efficient, attentive and friendly. The food was wonderful! Very flavourful and done perfectly. We had schnitzel offered in the special as a three course meal. We all fully enjoyed all of the meal. This is someplace to definitely come back to.

We waited to be greeted, then they sat us, and no word of a lie, it took almost 40 minutes for anyone to even come over and offer some water, much less acknowledge us (no, they weren’t that busy).

A true Invermere classic — every visit is unforgettable.
The Black Forest Restaurant is one of those rare places that delivers consistency, charm, and comfort every single time. From the moment you walk in, you’re wrapped in that cozy Alpine atmosphere that feels like a little getaway right here in the Valley.

The food is outstanding — rich, flavourful, and made with care. The schnitzel is always perfectly crisp, the spaetzle is delicious, and their sauces are next-level. Portions are generous and beautifully presented.

Service is warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. You can tell the team takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every detail. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply craving a great meal, they make you feel welcome.

If you’re visiting Invermere or lucky enough to live here, The Black Forest is a must. One of the finest dining experiences in the Columbia Valley.

I’m convinced small towns have the best restaurants, Black Forest is a gem! We loved the themed building and staff. The decor was whimsy and very German, obviously! We started with table buns (they had a Gluten Free bun when I asked!) served with 2 kinds of whipped butter, I started with a delicious, crisp and fresh ceasar salad, and we each enjoyed delicious entrees. Our server was so great, very attentive, and friendly. Definitely give this place a try!

Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. I had the Schnitzel Oscar and the apple strudel for desert. The mashed potato—I have never been so wowed by potatoes. I wish I had amnesia and could go back in time to experience this for the first time again. Our server Kevin was an absolute delight and very sweet. 11/10

Hostess was not accommodating. Friends had a table of two with two extra seats. Absolutely refused to pull up an extra chair for us to join them with our group of 3. Was excited to try, heard lots of great things. If you’re in the hospitality industry it pays to be hospitable. Guess not here
