The Black Forest Restaurant – Harrison Hot Springs
Authentic German Cuisine at Black Forest Steak & Schnitzel Haus
Reviews
My wife loves her spatzel, their Spatzel can be ordered crispy, which is just fried a bit more when its prepared and not so soggy, she enjoyed the “crispy spatzel”
(Note that they do have a dress code so shorts and tank tops would be frowned upon – but jeans and a t-shirt is fine).
We started with the escargot! It was perfect! Just what you’d expect for an escargot appetizer! For dinner, we had the schnitzel champignon and the bratwurst for dinner. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked, and very tender. The bratwurst was tasty and moist. I switched the Princess Potatoes (which are basically mashed) for the roasted (recommend if ur not a fan of mashed). We also had the cheesecake and Black Forest Cake for dessert. The cheesecake was on point, not stellar but good. The Black Forest Cake however was stellar! The cherries were only on one layer and not overpowering which I find a lot of BF cakes do! Jacquelyn was our waitress and she was perfect! Highly recommend this restaurant!
I had the Cordon blue schnitzel – really good, as also the red cabbage and their special potatoes with extra sauce Bernaise which was ok.
I had it many times before in Germany and it had a different/better flavor there. I know it’s hard to make.
She had the Oscar schnitzel with Jaeger sauce which was very good.
I had a German Dunkel beer which also vmwas very good, if you like dark beer.
There was some kind of music playing, but you barely could here it.
It would be nice if they would play some German/Austrian music.
The place is very nicely decorated!!
The Black Forest Restaurant is one of those rare places that delivers consistency, charm, and comfort every single time. From the moment you walk in, you’re wrapped in that cozy Alpine atmosphere that feels like a little getaway right here in the Valley.
The food is outstanding — rich, flavourful, and made with care. The schnitzel is always perfectly crisp, the spaetzle is delicious, and their sauces are next-level. Portions are generous and beautifully presented.
Service is warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. You can tell the team takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every detail. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply craving a great meal, they make you feel welcome.
If you’re visiting Invermere or lucky enough to live here, The Black Forest is a must. One of the finest dining experiences in the Columbia Valley.
