Cute place, food was pretty good, and service was ok. Idk if we would go back or not. They are definitely proud of their prices! For 4 people it ended up over $100 (we usually spend around 75) only thing we ordered outside of our plates was a queso and one of the plates was a childs plate! Just because price alone we would probably go else where first. The food itself wasnt bad just not worth that much for us to revisit often.

First visit 2/28

We came for breakfast for the first time while in the area. We were seated immediately.

4 Adults and 2 kids had the following:

American Breakfast, sausage, eggs and toast…$11.69
Enchilada breakfast, beef eggs………………………$18.59
Papas Mexicanca, beans……………………………….$5.98
Chilaquiles…………………………………………………….$12.19
Bacon & eggs………………………………………………..$13.79
Carnitas & Eggs ……………………………………………$14.99
4 x Orange juice……………………………………………..$3.89 each
(This was bottled juice)
Ice Tea………………………………………………………….$3.69
Total………$113.22

The food was very GOOD! once we received it after a long wait.

We will return if ever back in the area because again the food was very GOOD and after talking to the staff it is family owned and we like supporting family businesses.

Usually really enjoy this place, today was horrible. No one acknowledged us when we got in, we sat down waited 15 minutes before anyone came to get our drink order. Mind you we were being stared down the entire time by the hostesses, bussers, cashier and what I assume to be servers just standing at the pick up window the entire time. Finally someone came got our drink order and food order. My wife asked for corn tortillas for her tacos and got flour, asked for salsa verde that never came, no one checked on us for drink refills while our cups sat empty for our entire meal. We were there for over 45 minutes with a total of MAYBE five minutes interaction with staff. Once they dropped our check they immediately took our plates and payment and rushed us out. It was not insanely busy (moderately) but the entire time the whole staff just stared at us and acted on none of our needs. Being a general manager for a restaurant myself I ALWAYS leave a pretty hefty tip but after that display I didn’t even want to leave 20%. Super disappointed because my family and I have been coming here since I was a kid. Being treated the way we were was sooo disappointing and disrespectful. Especially the part where the only time they paid attention to us was to take our payment and plates. After 15 plus years of visiting we might be taking a break. Sad because I really love the el Tommy.

b4 i entered this restaurant, i noticed it has pretty good ratings as well as few bad ratings. to my surprise, i did not experience any sort of bad service or bad food. on the contrary, the food was delicious and the service, the waiter did a superb job. The place has beautiful murals in every room as you can see by my pictures. nice setting as well. the ladies were very nice. This restaurant goes back at least 40 years, set in a little beautiful town. one reviewer commented hes been going there for nearly 30 years and by that i can infer or conclude he was right, the food is good and the service. Please support these mom and pop restaurants, you will be doing them a great service.

Had dinner here the other night and I really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and the food was really good, with a decidedly home-cooked appeal. The chicken flautas will make you swear your abuelita is back there in the kitchen making them just the way only she can. Overall the whole experience was memorable. If I find myself in the area again, I’ll definitely stop in.

Went for Breakfast, they serve the whole menu. I had the “Ray Special” recommended by my friend who is a regular. Fantastic! (I recommend ordering queso and jalapeños on the side for your fries.) The homemade tortillas are fantastic and they make one of the best pralines I have ever had, with giant pecans!

Atmosphere is standard, a little tight in some spots which is the only reason I didnt give it 5 srars in that category.

Went for a quick dinner with my family of 6. We ordered 2 Barbacoa plates, Menudo, kid nuggets and kids corn dogs. My daughter is picky about her cheese, we asked if they could change it. We had to pay for the extra plate. Our barbacoa plates came with pico de gallo, we got cilantro and onion. We had to ask for pico de gallo and it was poorly chopped. The barbacoa was dry and flavorless and the corn tortillas were almost the same as flour tortillas. The menudo was missing flavor as well. When I ask for a spicer salsa they only have the salsa that comes with the chips. When it came time to pay I paid over $100! Not worth the price! Only thing I enjoyed was the horchata. I do not recommend this place.

We wanted to try a new place close to the house and we landed on El Ranchero. The atmosphere was nice and cozy and the service was pretty fast. I had the Mexican dinner #2 and a michelada. It was DELICIOUS! prices are very reasonable and everyone who works here are very nice and will take excellent care of you!

On a Sunday at 5pm this was the only highly rated restaurant open close to the rec center and I was hungry. I’m so happy I ended up here. They have all day breakfast so I got 3 different breakfast tacos: bacon and eggs, dried beef and eggs, and chorizo and eggs. Each one was a nice size and came with free chips and green and red salsa. I believe their tortillas are made in house too. It sure tasted like it. Delicious and filling. There was nothing to complain about and the cashier that took my order gave me plenty of suggestions on which breakfast tacos to get. Super friendly and patient to take my order.

I would eat here again for sure Parking is along the road out front. It was pretty dangerous since there is not any space to the side where you can ssfely exit and enter your vehicle. They might have parking in the back I didn’t see.
