Reviews
After reading the reviews about the burgers and specialty, we were very excited to try the food here. Our whole experience felt confused and frantic. Our server was very sweet but unfortunately got a large bit of our order wrong. Also, they were out of some of what we were excited for on the menu (all soups, all steaks, grouper, stuffed shrimp), which of course we understand. What was a bit frustrating was when we placed our original order, 2/7 of us were asked to reorder (they had run out of other items, too). A lot of us ended up ordering burgers, but many toppings ended up being missing or incorrect.
The food was fine – good fare. But nothing at all worth waiting 1.5 hours for. Our expectations for a relaxing lunch was not met.
My spouse had the crab cakes which were also very good!
They were out of a few things—baked potatoes, coleslaw—and for a minute, I wondered if we’d made the right call. But that worry vanished the second our food hit the table.
My blackened trout was delightful—perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, and the fresh veggies on the side were surprisingly delectable. And those onion rings? Exactly what onion rings should be. My husband’s burger and fries were also top-tier—juicy, flavorful, with fries that actually made you stop and appreciate a potato.
And then there was our waitress. Hands down, one of my favorites in a long while. Fun, quirky, totally dialed in. She made the whole meal better just by being herself.
Jimmy Mac’s might run out of coleslaw sometimes, but they’re not short on charm, flavor, or hospitality. I’d come back in a heartbeat.
The 16oz ribeye, was probably of Angus quality, we ordered it blackened and medium rare. The steak was juicy, seasoned just right, and the temperate was accurate. It was a good steak. The shrimp po boy, shrimps were battered nicely, the sandwich was very good, though I preferred that the bread be toasted. The elk burger was a hit, cooked to the right temp.
The waitresses are all friendly and attentive. Next time I come to Bryson City, Jimmy Mac will definitely be on my list
It’s rare to get that kind of service these days. Most places will run out of things and that’s just tough for you. And even with the added wait for them to have to go get it, it still didn’t take that long at all. And it was as absolutely amazing as it has been every single time and what keeps us coming back every trip, and usually more than once.
This place advertises themselves as being a down to earth, family owned local restaurant and they really came through for us. Thank you Kat, and thank you Jimmy Mac’s, for making our visit to Bryson City that much better. We plan on coming back again before we leave. And on every subsequent trip we make.
