Just wrapped up a very disappointing meal here.

After reading the reviews about the burgers and specialty, we were very excited to try the food here. Our whole experience felt confused and frantic. Our server was very sweet but unfortunately got a large bit of our order wrong. Also, they were out of some of what we were excited for on the menu (all soups, all steaks, grouper, stuffed shrimp), which of course we understand. What was a bit frustrating was when we placed our original order, 2/7 of us were asked to reorder (they had run out of other items, too). A lot of us ended up ordering burgers, but many toppings ended up being missing or incorrect.

The food was fine – good fare. But nothing at all worth waiting 1.5 hours for. Our expectations for a relaxing lunch was not met.

I was apprehensive when I walked in the door. A party of 3 we waited 5 min to get seated, 10 min to get a drink order, 20 min to take our order. The cheesestick appetizers cane out after 30 min these were amazing, thinking the food was gooding to be as good, it was awful. I have attached pics of the burnt BLT, you dont want to see the cheeseburger. We spoke to the waitress who was extremely nice who in turn spoke to the owner compted our meal. We will never here again.

Wow possibly the worst meal overall we’ve paid to eat. Other than being out of sweet potato fries, trout, elk, bison, and nearly everything else we wanted to order, the service was lacing and the presentation was just so sad and the baked potatoes was probably cooked in the morning and sat in a warmer all day, not edible. The very thin pounded out chicken breast was encrusted with too much seasoning, my hubs shrimp was awful. I honestly do not understand how tall are still in business. I don’t wish ill on anyone but the restaurant business is hard and competitive, there are so many easier ways to make a living.

A great restaurant where throwback diner meets fine dining. The grilled trout was excellent. The mixed vegetables side was one of the best ever; stewed and well seasoned.

My spouse had the crab cakes which were also very good!

Honestly, the only good thing I can say is the staff was friendly. What a JOKE!! My husband ordered the S.O.S platters ($22+) with FF and slaw. There were 4 shrimp, 3 scallops, and 3 oysters. There were just as many FF as seafood. We have never seen a seafood plate so sorry. He said the oysters in a can are bigger and better than what he was given. Yet, I ordered buffalo chicken plate and got 1/2 a chicken? It makes no sense! Very frustrated and extremely disappointed since this is the first I have eaten there and had heard great reviews. We are so disappointed at this point, I don’t believe we would try it again nor recommend.

So delicious! Their ‘Merica French toast is some of the best ever with an incredible homemade cream cheese and fruit. My bacon was cooked exactly how I ordered it.

At first, I was a tish worried. Maybe I should backtrack a bit—Jimmy Mac’s is tucked inside a cool old mountain-town building, with all the charm you’d hope for. Dark wood, quirky chairs, that lived-in kind of oldness that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto a local gem.

They were out of a few things—baked potatoes, coleslaw—and for a minute, I wondered if we’d made the right call. But that worry vanished the second our food hit the table.

My blackened trout was delightful—perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, and the fresh veggies on the side were surprisingly delectable. And those onion rings? Exactly what onion rings should be. My husband’s burger and fries were also top-tier—juicy, flavorful, with fries that actually made you stop and appreciate a potato.

And then there was our waitress. Hands down, one of my favorites in a long while. Fun, quirky, totally dialed in. She made the whole meal better just by being herself.

Jimmy Mac’s might run out of coleslaw sometimes, but they’re not short on charm, flavor, or hospitality. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

When we entered the restaurant, there was a pleasant love performer performing Jim Croce, John Denver and other timeless hits. It really added to the atmosphere.

The 16oz ribeye, was probably of Angus quality, we ordered it blackened and medium rare. The steak was juicy, seasoned just right, and the temperate was accurate. It was a good steak. The shrimp po boy, shrimps were battered nicely, the sandwich was very good, though I preferred that the bread be toasted. The elk burger was a hit, cooked to the right temp.
The waitresses are all friendly and attentive. Next time I come to Bryson City, Jimmy Mac will definitely be on my list

We always make this place a must stop when we visit Bryson City, particularly for the fresh and fried to perfection local mountain trout. Yesterday, we stopped in to get our favorite dish there, only to be told they’d run out. Our server Kat could tell we were disappointed and ran to the back to see what she could do. They sent someone to the local vendor to buy more trout for us!

It’s rare to get that kind of service these days. Most places will run out of things and that’s just tough for you. And even with the added wait for them to have to go get it, it still didn’t take that long at all. And it was as absolutely amazing as it has been every single time and what keeps us coming back every trip, and usually more than once.

This place advertises themselves as being a down to earth, family owned local restaurant and they really came through for us. Thank you Kat, and thank you Jimmy Mac’s, for making our visit to Bryson City that much better. We plan on coming back again before we leave. And on every subsequent trip we make.

Checked out Jimmy Mac’s for breakfast. They just opened about 2 months ago. The food was great. Biscuits and gravy were amazing. Omelette was really good, I added some sausage gravy to it. Kids love the French toast and pancakes. Scrambled eggs were not a big hit but not a big deal.
