Reviews
The food is so perfect – both a feast for the eyes and the mouth. Champagne and wine selections are so well done, and cocktails and NA options are excellent too! The menu is conscious of dietary restrictions while also leaning towards a shared group-friendly dining experience.
Service from the maître d’, host staff, service team, and sommelier were outstanding. Knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and helpful. The atmosphere is incredible too – fun lighting and decor, fun all around.
The star dish is the bucket list, including two types of friend chicken – original and glazed (you can choose from two flavors or do a mix). It is the best Korean fried chicken I had so far, including those I had in Seoul. The original, skin is crisp, meat is soft and tender, filled with flavor. My favorite dip sauce is gochujiang. For glazed, I choose the mix, both soy garlic and gochujiang taste amazingly.
There are many side dishes to choose from, I had fennel salad, however the bucket list also comes with scallion salad and kimchi, plus a small bowl of cold noodle, which fresh and tasty, perfect for after eating the friend chicken.
For the cocktail, I highly recommend the egg, it’s fruity and refreshing.
From the second you enter with the fancy assortment of choices of expensive handwashes from ranging from Hermes to Loewe, you know you’re in for an elevated experience!
Their weekend brunch for $52 is such a special experience. It starts with the most beautiful set of seven appetizers, almost like a Michelin-style assortment — each one small, curated, and so well executed. My favorites: the french toast soldier with the freshest Vanilla bean cream, it actually has like speckles of vanilla bean in there. The potato hashbrowns with lox is a close second favorite.
For the main course, you choose an entrée. I recommend the chicken and waffles or the signature fried chicken bucket, and going family style if you’re with friends so you can try more (my favorite way to go for this).
For dessert, you get both soft serve and a platter of seasonal fruits, which is a really nice finish and keeps the meal feeling balanced.
You’ll leave this place feeling so full but so happy. Great experience overall: elevated but still fun, with incredible fried chicken and a brunch format that feels unique and luxe.

My first visit to COQODAQ two months ago was exceptional — so much so that when planning my next NYC trip with family who appreciate perfectly executed bites, this was our one non-negotiable reservation.
It was absolutely the right decision.
All six of us found cocktails that hit exactly the right note. My Alaska Martini was as beautiful as it was silky. The Espresso Martini paired effortlessly with the soft-serve dessert — one of those combinations you think about long after the meal ends.
The Bluefin Tuna Tartare was stunning — vibrant, pristine, and served over ice so the quality spoke for itself. The thin slices of toast were thoughtfully chosen, letting the tuna shine. The generous blanket of grated cheese on the Caesar Salad had all of us diving in. Even the Crown Daisy felt purposeful and aligned with COQODAQ’s point of view.
Then came the main event.
The chicken was just as spectacular as I remembered. The crunch never wavered — impossibly crisp, remarkably light, and without a trace of greasiness. I’ve yet to experience fried chicken like this anywhere else. Choosing a favorite among the four sauces was impossible; I rotated through all of them, convinced each one was the best.
The Spicy Tteokbokki delivered the perfect chew with heat that warmed rather than overwhelmed — absolutely worth ordering.
As extraordinary as the food is, it’s the team that elevates COQODAQ. In a city full of outstanding restaurants, the human element is what sets places apart. The warmth, polish, and genuine pride in the room make the experience feel personal and celebratory.
Thank you to Wesley, Brandon, Thailer, Paul, Fredric, and Christie for setting the bar so high. COQODAQ remains at the top of my must-visit list every time I’m in the city — a reservation I’ll continue to plan trips around.
ORIGINAL REVIEW – DECEMBER 2025
COQODAQ is one of those places that reminds you why dining out can be such a pleasure.
The space is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with an energy you feel the moment you walk in—from the entrance (where you choose the scent for freshly cleaned hands) to the bar and dining room beyond. Nothing feels accidental.
The chicken is truly incredible. You can taste the care, research, and intention behind every detail—deeply flavorful, beautifully crisp, and remarkably light, without a hint of heaviness. This is fried chicken done with purpose, and it shows.
It’s easy to see why COQODAQ has earned Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition, and I sincerely hope that turns into well-deserved stars this year.
The hospitality matched the food: warm, polished, and attentive without ever feeling inauthentic. Wesley, Simon, Chef SK, Ian and Brandon each played a role in creating an evening that felt celebratory and special.
I love that my kids understand that food experiences worth seeking out should be filled with joy, happiness, and exceptional food—and COQODAQ delivers on all of it. This is a restaurant one happily plan trips around.
Beautiful ambience and presentation. It really felt like finding that much more affordable prices. We got the lunch special serving of chicken and rice with a seaweed soup starter, and then we did the chicken bucket and the tuna tartare. The tuna tartare was really fresh, the bread was crispy and fried and heavier than I thought, but very filling.
We tried every flavor of fried chicken, I do think the original is the best flavor. Really nice presentation on sauces to go with it. Very great service overall, nice passionfruit on top of yogurt too and the meal. The fried chicken felt very clean and not too heavy, but I did not leave feeling still hungry.
To be honest, you could definitely get that good Korean fried chicken at a cheaper price but the setting/restaurant really make it
Order: “24K” Chicken nuggets w/ caviar, banchan, assorted chicken pieces w/ all flavors, house fennel salad, coconut shrimp, tteokbokki, perilla seed noodles, and french fries (which never came and had to be pointed out on the final ticket – they did however comp the tteokbokki which was a nice gesture).
Flavor: Everything was fine and on par with some street vendors. The cilantro sauce that comes in the flight was the highlight of the entire meal. Cover something with enough sauce or fry it and you can easily elevate the floor of a given food. Are any one of these dishes the best in their respective realms? Absolutely not but I suppose the novelty lies in being able to order them off the same menu.
Quality: The fennel salad was quite nice in that each bite was consistent in size, the fry on the chickens were spot-on – credit to Koreans and rice flour. Tteokbokki was at its most basic form, the noodles were a dash of seasoning more interesting than butter noodles, and the coconut shrimp had inconsistent batter due to the tail rolling back onto itself. The brass dishware used for some plates was also satisfying.
Value: Depends on what you value. Is the food good? Sure. Would I come back if nothing changed? Easy no. Conversely, if you must broadcast your latest whereabouts or update the socials, there’s probably an angle of lighting here that suits your needs… just be prepared to pay double for the electricity.
Food:
We went for brunch on a Sunday. We had an 11:30am reservation and were seated immediately. We all ordered the “brucket list” with the signature fried chicken. The accompaniments were excellent, beautifully plated, and coursed appropriately. The fried chicken was excellent- light and crunchy without being oily, and the flavor was wonderful. The soft serve dessert is the perfect sweet/tart ending to the meal.
Wine:
We were drawn here partially because we are champagne lovers and were not disappointed! Frederic, the sommelier, helped us choose two DELICIOUS bottles that were truly unique. I appreciate that they have a large <$100 bottle list. We really enjoyed talking to the somm and his recommendations were spot on. He was so knowledgeable which we really appreciated.
Atmosphere:
A+++ fun group brunch vibes! The DJ was such a fun touch, the music was so fun and upbeat but not too loud. You could easily have a conversation without yelling.
Service:
The most spectacular hospitality I’ve experienced at a restaurant in a long time (and we eat out in Houston/Dallas/Atlanta often). Every single staff member we interacted with was kind, upbeat, and attentive. It was clear it’s a team effort with the staff- nothing went unnoticed. The manager we spoke to was so kind and complimentary of her team when we spoke highly of her staff. She even shared her personal reservation line should we want to make a reservation in the future.
What truly blew me away was that the experience didn’t end when the meal was over. We got an email the following day from the somm reminding us of the bottles we ordered and thanking us for coming in. Just next level attention to detail.
It’s also a very pretty restaurant with great lighting!
If it’s seems like I’m gushing, it’s because I am. We’ll add Coqodaq to all future NYC itineraries and I will sing this restaurant’s praises to anyone who asks!
